I decided to fire up MJ12 again.
I am on a 20mb cable connection, so should rack up quite a lot of points.
I have it all setup according to the stickied guide.
A few questions:
1) Should I set a preferred list of domains to crawl?
2) What should I set max workers & buckets to? I want to maxx out my connection, but would too many workers overload my Linksys WRT54GS router?
3) At the moment, I have started MJ12 about 30 mins ago, and it is only running at ~3mb download speed....

You can't see it now but I'm grinning because this just may be the finishing nail in the Knights' coffin :evil, grinning emoticon here:
Hi Bob! :) I've also got a 20mbit line and from the settings I've chosen it seems to keep my connection maxed out. So far, workers=210, buckets=70. I try to pick domains located near yourself, so I chose .us, .gov, .edu, .org and maybe a few others. For every other setting I followed the stickied guide and for the last few weeks MJ12 seems happy with it. Ask Dave and the other veterans here for more advice if needed, they're awesome :yepp: Good luck setting up your client and thanks for joining the effort

 More fire under the knights................they'll burn, and be used as the fire that cooked the Norwegian fishies. :D

Guys, hang in there. When i get back we won't just be nailing up the coffin. We'll be strapping them to a rocket and firing it at the sky ;)
Christmas fireworks anyone? :yepp:

I'm struggling to get more than 3-4mb from my 20mb line. I think my router may be getting overloaded? See the pics below for my settings:

In that screen I see you've got your download limited to 10Mbit and upload to 896KB/s. I don't know where I read but I think download speed is proportional to the upload speed you set and therefore a slower upload speed negatively affects the download speed?

I will have a fiddle
My max download speed is 20mb (2400kb\s)
My max upload is only 80-90kb\s (gotta love the UK)
I have played about with these settings to no avail:down:

Uncheck ; Count upstream towards overall bandwidth
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/marty121/6.jpg
Set overall process to high
Set main crawl thread to high
Set worker thread to high
Set archiving thread to idle
Set upload thread to normal
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/marty121/7.jpg
Set process priority to idle
Set word size to 64
Set dictionary size to 8
Restart, and try that setting
