Definitely. It's like food you pick off someone else's plate - the calories don't count if you don't know about them.

I usually don't like buying from them since they charge tax (8.25%) for me so I usually buy stuff from other places if possible. IE: Motherboardpro , Tigerdirect :yuk: , etc . Places where I won't get charged tax if you get what I'm saying .

Tax adds up after awhile.

Newegg orders totaled 4500. Zipzoomfly around 2500. Monarch when they were still around prolly 1500 to 2000. Then I also bought alot on ebay, forums, and other places. Prolly in the same ballpark as thread starter.

phelan1777
12-13-2007, 02:22 PM
I spent a little under 5K since 03 @NE

Monarch, about 5-700

ZZF 3-400

Here in the F/S section...........4-500

Anandtech F/S section............2-300

Ebay around 200-/+

do the math, it adds up quickly.

This doesn't include water cooling @x MCW60s, 15+ Fans, 2X Pa 120.3s, RD-30, Storm G5, 2XMCW30s, tubing, accessories, case materials for modding 150$ for powder coating.

I can spend a bit of time accounting for costs.

Oh and 200 for Cougar HOTAS setup. Its worth the money though.

Went back since 2003 it was roughly 6-7K USD. Wow is all I can say. I am disgusted with myself. My current rig will have to burn to the ground before i replace it. I thing we all should seek help maybe join a group Hardware-a-coholics Anonymous.

P.S.: 15K down payment for a car?!? What are you buying, a Bentley? :)

I literally just installed 2 X 1TB Hitachis in SATA which will be configured in Raid 1. I consolidated 3 x 250gb IDE 100 in Raid 5. Doubled my storage, speed went up tremendously, and I dropped down to 2 drives. And, I still have my 150gb raptor for a select few games + os.

I never want to see a ribbon cable in my computers ever again. I also got 2 SATA 20x LITE-ON drives.

Purchased, of course from newegg.

OK, just resurrecting. I can't compete on money, but TIME.
My first newegg invoice is 2/18/2002.
I bought a Celeron 1100 for $82.00.
FYI, it's crunching on WCG today !

Who's got history older than that ?

The next month I bought a Radeon 8500DV for TWO HUNDRED NINETY TWO dollars (!) and a P4 1.6. Both of these parts are in use helping WCG as well.

Not Newegg, but the Norwegian alternative. Let's look through that old archive of mine, my father was rather strict with the accounting so I can go back to 1997 and check my expenses with computers, hmm looks like I bought my first HDD at the age of 12, it cost 100USD. ^^

Most of my hardware has been sold to friends or other people during the years, so I have pretty much gotten back half of it or more, for certain.

That leaves around 22k USD in 11 years.

From 45000USD for a new Audi A6, it costs pretty much exactly the double in my country :D

2010 was much better for me than 2009. I spent $3,902.93 at Newegg last year. The year before I spent $5061. That represents about one out of every five dollars I actually get my hands on (after taxes, before bills). I'm doing better and hoping for an even less expensive 2011, although that's doubtful!
