Temporary Cpu

Hi guys



I have two 3870 and my friend is going to give me his ASUS P5W DH for cheap I need a Temporary cpu until I upgrade to a Yorkie and X38 X48 chipset like in February.These are the cpu im thinking of getting im gonna oce them as far as possible so which one of these would be the best E4500,E4600 or E6550?
And also will 3870 work in crossfire on the 975 chipset?

Im still gonna game with it isnt the 1MB L2 cache too little and I dought ill oce that cpu past 3ghz.

Which of the cpu i posted has the most chance of reaching 3.6ghz with a good cooler on that mobo with the least amount of volts?

is 975 8x8x?

id be interested to know if 4500 clocks to 3.6ish...

the 4500's etc are m0 step now too arent they?

maybe more luck with a 6550 :shrug:..maybe not.

who knows?

my impression is if you get 3.4-3.6 you lucky on normal volts for any run of the mill/cheapy c2d.
more like 3.2-3.4...i reckon.

Thx for your help guys which of these cpu oces the best on air the E4500 E2160 or E2180 and does the 1mb cache on the E21.. affect peformance in gaming alot?
