My budget is around $600 for everything. I'm looking at few digital SLR kits that I've listed. Which would you recommend? If you have another kit in mind, then please post a link to it.

The e-410 does not have image stabilization and is smaller than the e-510. The e-510 does have image stabilization, but does not come with the 55-200mm Zuiko lens. The Nikon D40 is bigger than both of those cameras, comes with two lenses similar to the e-410 kit, does not have image stabilization, and has 6.1 mp resolution only, which isn't that bad, but I think that'll be off my list soon.

This might help.

By the way, I'd recommend you take a look at Pentax as well. Very competitive package and I hear one of the only areas they really lose to the competition is burst rate shooting.

K100D is not a bad buy, not sure if that's what he's referring to though.

For under $600 the D40 kit is still my pick. I bought it a while back... great cam. It's a tad larger, but it fits well in your hand (unlike the canons in that price range). Insane battery life, great picture quality, nice kit lens. If you need something a bit larger the 55-200mm can be had for under $200. I'd definately buy it again, given the chance. Don't be scared of the 6mp resolution, it's more than enough... never encountered a situation where it effected me at all other than saving memory space on the card.

Go to the store and mess with the one's you're considering. Never buy a camera without using it first, comfort/usability are important and vary from person to person.

Yup the K100D, one of the best buys for the money in the DSLR world

I'm no expert in this area though. I will some day move to a DSLR but the market is moving so fast with all the competition, that things are going to really change in the next couple of years. I believe in 2 years we will have sub-$999 Canon 40D's :D

I actually like Pentax, but I'm considering getting the Pentax K10D, instead. The 18-55 mm starter kit will cost $649.95 after rebate.
