Mini – Review: Inno 3D 8800GTS

I have prepared a basic review of the Inno 3D 8800GTS. As most people here overclock their hardware, I thought the most appropriate thing to do was to find the maximum 100% stable clock speeds, using default voltages and cooling, and to conduct all benchmarks at these speeds. (If requested I can conduct further tests at stock speeds). I have also left the CPU @ 3.33 GHz, as I felt this was a moderate speed easily replicated by most people, and the results may be CPU limited if I down – clocked it.

The test setup:

CPU: e6300 @ 3.33 GHz
Motherboard: Asus P5B (vanilla)
Ram: 2 x 512MB Corsair 8500 @ 952 MHz | 4-4-4-12
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750w
HDD: Seagate 320GB SATA

Video Card: Inno 3D 8800GTS
158.XX Drivers
Driver settings: Highest Quality, VSYNC off

Standard Specs:

Core Clock = 513 MHz
Shader Clock = 1188 MHz
Memory clock = 1584 MHz

100% stable max clocks are as follows:

Core Speed = 650 MHz (27% OC)
Shader Speed = 1512 MHz (27% OC)
Memory Speed = 2000 MHz (26% OC)

NB: The card was also tested in games at these speeds and has proved to be totally stable and artifact – free.

Temperature: Max temperature during benching was 76*C, with fan at 80% and with an ambient temp of 26*C.

Conclusion:

This is a solid, easy to install and overclock video card. The package left a little to be desired (it contained drivers disk, and some connectors and cables) but that is expected with less than top model hardware. The stock dual slot cooler is quite impressive, in terms of cooling efficiency and noise level. At 60%, the fan is almost silent yet provides decent cooling. At 80%, I have found it able to keep benchmark & game temps in the high 70’s, with the exception of NFS Carbon which raised the temp to 82*C, with 26*C ambient temp, whilst still remaining reasonably quiet. Overclocking performance was impressive, and the resulting performance level of the card is excellent considering its price.

Benchmark Results:

1) 3DMark2001 Standard Benchmark
2) 3DMark2003 Standard Benchmark
3) 3DMark2005 Standard Benchmark
4) 3DMark2006 Standard Benchmark
5) Aquamark

i used riva tuner 2.06 to overclock and adjust fan speed. I was able to simply wind it up to 1000 without problems, i get artifacts at 1100 (2200 DDR). Card has no mods yet.

It should be fine, i was benching fully overclocked yesterday in 30*C ambient temps (yuk - Wollongong is hot too) and it didn't go over 76*C on 80% fan, and in NFS Carbon max temp was 83*C on 80% fan. On 90% fan in carbon it sits on 80*C full load.
