Ok guys I have a socket 939 AMD X2 3800 running 2.8ghz (280x10) at 1.2v with a full load temp of ~45c. Problem is no matter what I do to the chip it won't go higher.
I believe the problem is with my Asus A8ne motherboard because my last chip maxed out at 280 also. I believe the problem is I need my voltage to my northbridge but I don't see that option in my motherboard. So am I blind and the option does exist? Or is there a bios flash or anything else I could do that would allow me to get more volts to the chipset?

did you drop your HTT multiplier to 4x or 3x?

What's your mobo?

Either you need more volts on the chipset or more on the HTT
Are you using the latest bios ?

My HTT multi is set to 4x and I've tried 3x with no luck.

I have the latest bios but asus didn't update the bios on this board to much. I've heard of people flashing the bios of a normal Asus A8n-SLI to a Asus A8n-SLI Deluxe which gave them the ability to up the voltage to the chipset. However I don't know if I could use that because I have the Asus A8ne which isn't a SLI board.

I just want to get a little more volts to it because I think I have a really good chip since 1.2v seems pretty low for a 2.8ghz 3800.

this maybe a stupid question but did you try upping the cpu voltage? unless i'm missing something, running a 3800 at 2.8 at less than stock voltage suggests you need to up the vcore to get a higher OC

I have upped the voltage to the cpu to 1.425 trying to get above 2.8ghz and it didn't help. I can run 2.8ghz at 1.2v for 8 hours of orthos with a temp of 45c using a CoolerMaster Hyper TX2. I think I need more chipset voltage because my last cpu maxed out at 280 also.

It can be lack of voltage for the chipsets or it could be just the memory controller or HT controller crapping out with the increased speed.
I had that happen to me in a 939. It would prime all day at 2850MHz, but 3D crashed. Only managed 2800 stable. Voltage increase didn't help in any way.
1.2v for 2.8GHz is a really good result tough. That indeed would give a very nice overclock if the board is to blame.

Is there a way for me to increase the voltage on my asus a8ne motherboard?
