I need help picking a digital camera. I want to get it for my wife as a christmas gift, she's been bugging me long enough. It would primarily be for taking pictures of our kids, $500-$750 dollar range prefferably from Newegg.

This site has excellent resources for all types of digital camera:

I would personally go for a Canon & Nikon. But with your price range, you have lots to choose from. It all depends on what you want...

$500? for pictures of the kids? that's a little ridiculous.

just get the Canon SD870. its the best ultra compact on the market. with wide angle lens as well. only $350 on new egg.

if you really want to spend more money, get the Canon S5 IS.

I'd go with the IS, although above about $400 you may as well just get a DSLR kit like the nikon d40 or canon rebel xt.
