I plan to buy one of these 2 systems. What kind of 3dmark scores could I expect?
-P4 2.26GHZ Northwood
-Gigabyte GA-8IEXP Intel 845E Socket 478 P4 ATX motherboard
-GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 4 Ti 4200, 3.5ns, 64MB DDR
-Corsair XMS pc3200 DDR RAM
-80GB Western Digital 7200RPM HD with 8mb cache
-Lian-Li 65 Aluminum Case
or
-AMD Athlon XP 2200+ thoroughbred (or an XP 2100+ if that is faster for some reason than thoroughbred when OC'ed)
-SOLTEK SL-75DRV5 (Purple Ray) VIA KT333 (the latest Ver.) DDR/SDRAM 266/200MHz
-GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 4 Ti 4200, 3.5ns, 64MB DDR
-Corsair XMS pc3200 DDR RAM
-80GB Western Digital 7200RPM HD with 8mb cache
-Lian-Li 65 Aluminum Case
This will all be cooled on stock air cooling for now...Next spring i plan to upgrade the CPU to whatever is the newest Intel Northy or AMD Barton; and also upgrade the video card to NV30 (finally, 3dfx technology being used!!). This will probably force me to get a new mobo...
My question is: Which system will be a better performer once OC'ed. By OC'ed I don't mean theorectial OC just for 3dmark. I want to OC it and leave it running overclocked at this speed whenever I play games. This means that noise, heat, stability, etc are considerations for this system
