View Full Version : CPU-Z 1.41 reporting my memory speed wrong???

Ok, I am using the system in my signature. I have my opteron 165 overclocked to 2.75GHz, using an HTT of 306 and a multiplier of 9. I have the memory divider set to 166, which should give me a RAM speed of 250MHz (DDR500).

Well, using CPU-Z 1.41 to check my RAM configuration, it reports that the memory is only running at 229MHz. That would be correct if it was set to the 150 divider, which it's not.

Does anybody know what is going on here or how I can fix this?

EDIT:
Ok something messed up is going on here. I just set the HTT back to 200 and set the memory back to 1:1, and CPU-Z is reporting a speed of 180MHz now. What the heck? Anybody ever experience this?

Been a long time since I messed with this and may have the wrong formula but I think the problem in the first one is the rounding and the second is the HTT may be at 199.

Is your CPU/DRAM ratio reporting as 12 instead of 11 in the first instance and 10 instead of 9 in the second?

Odd Divisor Correct setting usually messes with RAM speed... it'll take it 1 step down.

Try disabling it...

Tetras I dont understand your post.

Gothic I don't believe I've ever seen a setting called Odd Divisor Correct in the bios, but I will check.

BTW,
What is now considered the best bios for the nf4 ultra D? I believe mine is pretty out dated now, I know it is one of the modified ones, I think based off 704.

EDIT:
Also the speed is reported correctly in memtest86.

003, what bios are you running? If someone modded it, they may have unhid the setting. The setting is located just below Tref in the bios.

Your overclock.. 9 * 6 / 5 = 10.8, which is 11 ram divider... so you are expecting 250, right? but ODC (Odd Divisor Correct) does not allow Odd (11) ram dividers...so it rounds to 12... so now you have 2750 / 12 = 229.

Just disable it in the bios, everything will be right again.

Yes thank you! I just checked, and the setting indeed was there! And it was enabled. I disabled it and now it's running at 245MHz (had to drop to 300HTT, 306 failed prime) :)

I am running a modded bios but it is old. What is currently considered the best bios to use?
