" Finally, we must attest to the absence of any option permitting to change the processor's clock multiplier setting. This is a bit unusual for Asus, as they have been in the habit of including this feature on the vast majority of their boards in the past. "

Hey guys, if i want to change the multiplier settings, how do i do that? Since there is no option in the bios menu, i guess that the pencil unlocking trick wont do any job, right? I mean the multiplier tab in the bios wont appear even when i unlock the CPU which i think comes unlocked (correct me if im wrong). On the other hand the FSB setting can be changed and my mobo has a maxed value of 180 MHz (is that good?). The default multiplier is 10.5. What i have to do to set the multiplier higher.

There are two ways for multiplier manipulation on your motherboard. One is the purchase of a "Golden Socket" which is very difficult to find. They were made in Japan and some units were sold by Plycon but are no longer available the last that I heard.

The other method is to modify your motherboard with half a dozen surface mount resistors and soldering in a dip switch. This modification can be found here: http://www.overclockers.com.au/techstuff/a_a7m266_mod/

Actually, you can Private Message Chainbolt and ask him about the modification. :D

Thanks for your reply. First i was wrong, there is an option in the bios but is greyed and not changeable. Anyways, as for the modification i think i'll wait untill my pc gets too old, because im not a tech guy and i dont think im going to get it to work with all the resistors mods :( .... Btw, i got the FSB to 140, 10.5 x 140 ~= 1470 Mhz and when running 3dmark2001 it freezes in Game , the car chase bench. Oh, and btw, the heat, which probably is going to rise up when o/c, is more when increasing the FSB or the multiplier? Thanks in advance.
