So I got a dead stick outta 4GB of 6400C3DF....

Was running DDR2 900 4-4-4-10 with 2.18v set in bios, which is nowhere near 2.4v that they are specd for. But alas, the 1 stick is dead

Seems 2.18v according to BIOS readings of voltage, is closer to 2.3v+ which is really dumb if the Maximus is overvolting like that, if I had my MM I would check actuals, but I dont atm.

Set 2.06 in BIOS it read as 2.15v and primed all night long at that.....guess its what I get for getting new stuff early :)

A friend told me his Maximus OVs the Vdimm by .13v across the whole range. However, even if this is the case, yours was 2.18v which if it compares, would give you 2.31v which should not kill D9s IMO.

Yeah, I wonder what killed the 1 stick, the other 3 check out. And it was a stick from my new set that I just received on RMA. I number my RAM so I can keep track of whats from what.

What are the odds of 2 sticks passing memtest on like 30 loops, and also passing prime95 blend for 12-24hours but still not functioning correctly?

I would say very slim.

What I figured, some of the problems I am most definitely sure are stemming from the state of the Maximus 0505 BIOS, seems alot of people have problems when Vista restarts, that the overclock seems to fail. And the other would be because Vista and alot of components were installed with seemingly bad stick of RAM that there could be corruption on the disk somewhere.

So far I have been able to narrow it down sicne yesterday that it is in fact not the other RAM that I have. Thanks as always for the replies YB
