View Full Version : Lian Li A12 - pure aluminum sexiness

For those who haven't seen it, the Lian Li A-12 has gotta be the best case I've ever seen. I love the brushed aluminum look and the white and black aluminum fascia. The blue led strip that runs down the middle looks awesome!

Plenty of drive bays for a standard PC build and the shiny interior looks great. Cable management would be real easy too as the top PSU section is covered hiding all your PSU cables from view.

I also like the fact that you can change the hard drive bays to have the connectors facing the sides of the case, giving more room for long VGA cards like the G80 and R600 series

What do you guys reckon?

Nice styling but a very standard layout that suits air cooling, not so great for LC.

It'd be fine for watercooling if you wanted a rear external mount or a top external mount. Just not for the internal WC build

I don't see anything totally new or sexy...

What do you guys reckon?I reckon it looks okay, if you're a Lian-Li fan... :yepp:

I've *tried* to like Lian-Li cases. Really!

Au contraire, the more I check into their cases, the more I dislike them!

Why don't they powder-coat these things, like MM? Brushed aluminum, anodized black, or brushed aluminum & anodized black - those are your choices. The blue stripe helps, but... Hello?!?!?!

Their oldskool styling is getting old - designed to attract n00bs! We know their cases are made of aluminum. So is everybody else's. Aluminum cases, these days, are about as exciting and brushing your teeth and shaving! How about some colors other than silver and black?

And, why do they have to build everything upside-down and back-asswards?

Exhausts in the front - intakes in the back - tunnels that fry your drives and make it impossible to use most third-party CPU coolers - power supplies in the front, instead of the back - mobos mounted upside-down - weirdo standoffs that are impossible to find, if you need replacements - absolutely zero product support - yada, yada, yada.

I keep looking for THE Lian-Li case that will change my mind - but this ain't the one. It's close, but no cigar!

Sorry!

EDIT

Gosh!

That felt good! Thanks! :D

The new line form Lian-Li do look good indeed. Personally I am all over the PC-A70:

Nice looking, I guess, if you like bare aluminum! But...

Where are the side/top blow-holes?

Looks like these things aren't gonna ventilate air very well.

Their website indicates that the PC-A70's CPU/GPUs are gonna be 'cooled' by warm air coming off the internal drives, and the PSU is being used as part of the exhaust system.

Once again, not a good design...

obviously you have never seen or owned a lian-li, they are awesome cases to use. excellent airflow, quality assembly and components. i've used the v2000b+2 for a year now and would never consider another case unless they quit making these.

I'll buy a Lian-Li v2000b+2, if you buy a Mountain Mods U2-UFO Opti-1203...

Then, we'll compare notes, okay?

I would buy a MM in a heart beat if they weren't so expensive. That'll happen sometime in the future if I wasn't saving for a car.
