Assuming this is like other DFI mobo's, have you connected all the power connectors to the motherboard? Should be 3 or 4. 20+4 pin, 4 pin molex, 6 pin CPU and possibly a 4 pin floppy style one. Thats what it was like on my SLI-DR I had a while back. Got some weird errors if they werent connected.

Sorry eddie, I have no ideas other than the obvious generic (i.e non specific to this board) hardware issues. I have had 0 issues with the board in that sense :)

24PIN ATX - Conected
8PIN ATX Conected
5Pin Floppy Mobo port not plugged in

Could it be mobo doesnt Like OCZ PC8500 SLI ram?, got running dual channel stock settings and this passes mem test with no errors!!

But system still shutdown during initial phases of Vista 32Bit install...

Only other componets linked into it:

2900XT
Amd 6000X2
Sata DVD (tried ide dvd... not problem here)
WD Raptor X Sata

I checked WD using floppy diagnosics with 30 min thourgh test with no errors...

So far not liking the whole DFI experience!!!

DFI boards are usually solid.

Id connect all power connectors and run on minimal hardware and test again. Make sure your Boot/Windows drive is on disk0 for Vista. Had some fun with that one when I installed it.

Never heard of issues with OCZ ram and DFI boards though. Is it a complete shutdown? As though someone pulled the plug out?

Tried Windows XP to no avail shutdown during copying of files...

Vista setup usually makes pc shutdown during that stage but also before..

Theres something wrong with my Raptor X?

Or sata controller is faulty?

Lost for words really

Can you try different PSU?
Hows you temperatures? Might be that sensor is misreading one of monitored temps and for your safety and psychical comfort is shutting your RIG down

i bet your PSU cant handle the load. might i ask why you went with a 590 instead of 680?

Psycho_eddie

I can rule temps out as an issue as ive got fan blowing over VRM's also just come back to see 15 passes with 0 errors on memtest...

As for my PSU not handling the load its Antec Quattro 850W these things can handle 2x 2900xt with intel quad overclocked with multi hds so thats not the problem..

As for 590 vs 680... this is Amd 680I chipsets for intel mobos..

Was tossup between this and Asus crosshair chose DFI as it had the edge with layout and digital VRM... but so far cant even install an OS!!!

I think there is something wrong with the Sata controller?

WD raptor is new yet to be scared with multi os installs..

Can anyone help fix this problem?, slightly annoyed as ive got whats meant to be the best Am2 mobo here but cant yet fully use its abilities as i cant install an os on it..

Okay i had a spare IDE Hd.. took the Sata hd out of loop and put ide hd in tried install and exactly same thing happens... system shuts down during install...

But yet system can do 28 passes with 0 errors on memtest... so overheating isnt the issues here...

Seriously wtf?!!?

I dont want to have to get Crosshair ideally as i prefur DFI layout...
