Hi I have 4 CM2X1024 - 5400C4 on an Intel BadAxe (first badaxe) motherboard with a Core2 Duo E6600. Windows reports that I have 3.5GB memory and some programs report 2.5GB available memory, when I run the system with 2GB ram it runs perfect (been running that way for 8 months without a single blue screen) when I installed 2 more of the same memory to make a total of 4 the system crashes with a blue screen when I start using programs that use a lot of memory like photoshop or others.

any help would be appreciated

You are using a 32bit OS. You need a 64bit OS to use 4gb of RAM.

True, this is why the OP cannot "see" the full 4gb. However, it does not explain the crashes. On your MOBO you will likely need to increase the voltage to the NB to be stable with 4 DIMMs due to the added chipset load.
