View Full Version : Maximum length tubes

I just got another question about my wc setup, I hope you guys can help me out again! The radiator will be placed on top of the case due to the lack of space inside and at the back. But that might mean that the longest tube will be about 85centimeters (from radiator to reservoir inside). My pump is a Laing DDC 12V Pro and I got cpu and vga in my loop. Is 85centimeters too long for a tube, or is it still okay? Is there anyway a maximum length of tubing?

Thanks again!

I'm a complete noob just barely grasping the basics, but should check how it would be using http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=151627

Less tubing is always better, but if it needs to be 85cm. It will be fine.

From what i know its about your pump. the more head it has the more pressure you have. plus what pak said is true. i work in the insulation field and the less hose we use the faster the job goes

Thanks all! There is a way I can make the tube shorter, but it means I need to modify the case (and I'm not sure if I can do that in a nice and straight way...). I see what I do, but I know 85centimeters is not a complete disaster ;) Thanks, again!

lol i have about 11 ft of tubing in my rig, but dont forget that a water cooling loop is a closed system ( not ALL are closed, like the guy with the swimming pool cooler it's an open system)

dxl you can have 8km of tubing if was on same level if wanted, height depends on head pressure (http://www.aquariumpros.com/articles/headpress.shtml)of the pump, yours is 4.7m. so you got lots of head room with 85cm

Of course you're right re head and your 8km figure was just to make the point, but hydraulic friction would kill the flow in half inch tube well before the 8km mark.

DXL own a dremel (http://www.dremel.com/en-us/tools/tool-detail.htm?H=188476&G=69655&I=66217) a tool for modding, note any time grind case remove hardware so tiny metal particles don't short out MB. you can cut a hole where you have the rad

I have one, but really... I suck with tools!
