Just out of curiosity I have been reading about how some people get buildup in thier systems even with just deionized water. Has anyone tried the water you get for salt water aquariums it is reverse osmosis deionnized water and is supposed to be as close to 100% pure as you can get this might cut back on the buildup in the cooling loop.
here is anexample you can buy for home use its pricey but when you need alot it works well

Exactly...

At my local Foodlion (exactly .6 miles from my house) I can get a gallon of dH20 for a cool dollar.

Why would anyone want to use anything different?

...and at my local saltwater shop it's free as much as I can haul away.

I routinely recommend it here locally (as I know every watercooled rig, all maybe 10 of them...) as it's free and DI.

I do not consume alcohol at all. Call it a religious thing. If I was gonna pull a trick like that I'd run a methanol loop.

Either distilled or deionized will work fine ... it's not necessary to use water that's been through the reverse osmosis process.

Methanol is the bad component of an alcohol -- that will make you go blind and poison your liver. Ethanol on the other-hand is what is desirable.

Distilled water and RO water is basicly the same thing. When it comes to big-time opperations, their distilling equipment doesn't permit any other evaporated, non-h2o liquid to be collected. RO systems are just a membrane that doesn't permit anything smaller than water past. Anything smaller thats in water will generally be an ion, hence the deionized process added.

Methanol is 40% the weight of water while still retaining cooling tendencies.

I'm not at all interested in drinking it. If it weren't for dogs, I'd try experimenting with anything I could get my hands on to try and find something interesting.

Dachshund/pit mix with both front legs broken. He survived multiple rattlesnake bites too. Sir Gizmo of Fatness, the Dog of Timex.

Back on topic, if the water is free, that's less you have to buy. I used Dasani till I realized they add salt to make you want more.

Exactly. Rattlesnakes, two cars, and we got him at the shelter to boot.

Rescue a dog-they'll love you forever.
