hi
first i want to know if it would be good and possible to somehow mount a radiator (i am going for a hw labs black ice extreme 2) in a 5.25" drive bay

would it be good to have a 240mm radiator and a 120mm radiator together?

would it be enough for:
d-tek fuzion on q6600
mcw-60 on 8800gtx
(northbridge likely but not sure which one. input please? :))

also is a laing ddc-3.2 pump good enough or is a d5 better for this or what, or multiple ones, etc

and of course a resevoir <- input on this too please :D

i plan to have everything with 1/2 tubing
(btw what are all these prefixes and suffixes to tubing sizes like G1/4?)

i would like to OC if possible but my main goal is to have everything at decent temperatures since right now what i have sucks, and 8800gtx on air is always 80C and i hate it :P its impossible to touch my northbridge cause that too is so damn hot

Thanks!!!

welcome to XS.

depends on the case... how many bays it have in the front...

as for radiator, many folks will recommend a swiftech 320 or a PA120.2 or even a 120.3 if you can fit it.

as for radiator, a nice small but good one is swiftech reservoir.

G1/4 is basically thread spec for what kind of threaded fittings the reservoir or radiator takes... most general in WC seems to be G1/4 except in thermochills using G3/8 = 3/8 BSPP

holy crap fast!
thank you :)
i have 5.25 bays free for w/e and i can relocate my dvd burner which i planned to do
i measured everything and i have pretty much exactly 133x280x40mm of space on my top section (just enough to fit a radiator with two fans :))
i also have enough room on the bottom of my case for 1x of a single fan radiator, and possibly on the bottom of the drive bays i could fit another
one problem with pa120.x is that i dont have that much money :D

i dont understand what you mean by "threaded fittings" is this the inside of the metal thing thats attached to water blocks etc or what :P

thanks for you help and fast reply :)

Quad and 8800gtx all OC is a lot of heat.
Work it out here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2414903&postcount=4).
There's good and there's good enough. Go through that calculation in the link and get a better idea for yourself of what's likely.

um... the only thing on TV these days is reality shows...

ok, do you know the model and make of the case you have? and have you made up your mind about what WC'ing parts you are going to buy?

why dont you post your buy list and get the blessings of some of the pros here.

again, post the pic of your case or something... a radiator takes up much more space than a fan... even a 120.1 radiator...

ok, let me borrow a pic of various barbs from this (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=161062) thread...
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g228/nicepants42/Mod%20log/IMG_2363.jpg

you see the smooth parts on top? that's where you plug the hose and the clamp to fix the tube to the barb...

then you see a threaded (like a screw) at the bottom... these threads have spec... well, all the barbs pictured here are G1/4 threads but there are various different threads...

the Gx/x info as well as 1/4 BSPP basically refers to the spec of the threads...

check out this thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=157616) for more info...

wow... you mean this?

http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/11-112-116-04.jpg

you dont have too much room to play with...

correct me if i'm wrong but it seems like you are thinking of doing multiple 120.1 radiators?
you may be able to squeese in one radiator at the bottom fan intake but for sure in the front bays, you will be required to cut the case a bit...

why dont you just get one radiator such as a MCR-320 by swiftech and mount it at the back of the case?... mind you that the back fan does not seem like a 120mm fan there... hmm...

theres not much room but i measured any open areas and i could fit 1x 120.2 and 2x 120.1 but it would get pretty cramped, but i plan to make it really organized. also the exhausts on the side and the front should be good enough to expel the hot air from the radiators i dont want any external things cause its a pain. im tired of the external zalman reserator 1.
i know how to leak test everything im not a complete newbie to this
my main concerns are if it will cool it down enough to have a decent OC, since 80C is crap and the zalman keeps me at 60C on the quad usually under full load which also sucks

im at school right now its break in between test and the lecture so let me pull up everything i plan to get

one of these http://www.xoxide.com/dd-black-ice-xtremeii-38.html or something similar, just look at the size for now

two of these: http://www.petrastechshop.com/dadenblicext.html

one of these http://www.petrastechshop.com/ladd1mcin12p.html or the alternative: http://www.petrastechshop.com/dadenlad5in1.html

one of these http://www.petrastechshop.com/dfuuncpubl1.html

one of these http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcgpuwawg8.html or the alternative: http://www.petrastechshop.com/ekgtxfucowaf.html

not sure about the resevoir yet but i dont think that really matters for now

i dont have a calculator on me so it would be nice if somebody could add up to get a total
im looking to not spend that much money and get something pretty decent that would last me for a while and wont suck like what i have :)
