A microscope+digital camera that is :p:
I found this dusty, old microscope in the storage room at the school I work. Brought it home, cleaned it and tested. Then I just wanted to see if I can take pictures by combining it with my digital camera (an ordinary Fuji FinePix F30).

Subject: A long dead, dried out bee I found outside.

Photo1: The stinger with a drop of poison on it.

Photo3: Close up to the wing.

P.S: Didn't add this to the macro thread out of respect to the real photographers posting there.

How close were you with the camera lens?

The macro mode on most compacts has a limited working range. If you held the lens of the camera up to the microscope, it was too close to focus properly. It needs to be a few inches away from the object.

I am not sure how this is affected by the optics in the microscope, so I could be wrong.

Not bad though.

I put the lens directly on top of the microscope's eye piece so there wasn't any space. You're right the camera couldn't focus properly. I'll try few inches away with and without the macro mode.
