Few days ago, i;ve got a a package from POV HK, after strip its box, i read the package and it's a new mainstream card GF8600 GT EXO
EXO series is a pre-overclocked card from the manufacturer, known as a factory overclocked card.
Just as we knew almost all GF8600GT known to be overclocked easily..usually it can scale > 100MHz above stock clocks (540-700) both for the gpu and memory.
This advantages of G86 makes alot of manufacturer and brand make a pre-overclocked series of GF8600GT, we knew ASUS TOP, Inno 3D, Winfast Extreme, XFX xxx edition etc. Some of them made a huge OC from Nvidia reference clock.
This time we have POV 8600GT EXO edition which come clocked at 600MHz for the GPU and 1000. for the memory.
Wait a minute 1000MHz??? Yes 1000 we talking about DDR2000 : A such high memory frequency is normal coz it use a Qimonda DDR3 1.0ns! Yes it the same memory speed used on GTS cards

The unique of this card is it has an extra power connector just as the GTS card!
This PCIe 6pin connector made this card will not underpowered especially when we do some serious overclocking with some vmod to the card.
The connector made this card is looks like an underclocked GTS

Another advantages gained from this POV 8600GT EXO is its multimedia features. POV 8600GT EXO comes with rich multimedia features. You can get HDCP+HDMI output along with HDMI connector and dan HDTV out. It's a smart solution cause we know not every man like to have more than one card to fulfill their needs to a movie and gaming solution. This card offers both of them with single card solution

To know how it performs, especially on 3D environment, we use some synthetic benchmark with these softwares :
3DMARK 2001 SE
3DMARK 2003
3DMARK 2005
3DMARK 2006
Atitool 0.27
Rivatuner 2.02

Test bed use for the test :

CONCLUSION :

GPU overclocking

The overclocking result is truly shocked me. We have 924MHz on gpu !! It's almost 30% from its default and 50% from NV reference clock. Amazingly this clock achieved with stock cooling only without vmod on the card..that's a huge OC from the default core which is "only" 600 and far more than the NV reference clock (540MHz)
This achievement is so delightful for such a 8600GT card. When it's come to overclocked condition (about 900ish MHz, on gpu) chip temp becomes hot enough , around 75°C full load and 50° idle
But it still better than the NVidia reference HSF i've tried before with other 8600GT cards, POV use a huge and heavy HSF to mantain the gpu on its safe temp.

Memory overclocking

Overclocking on the memory is not as happy as the gpu did. It kinda normal coz mem speed rated at 1GHz (1.0 ns) which is rather too far from its NV reference 700MHz (1.4ns)
We got a minor overclocking from its default clock (1GHz), only about 20-25MHz from the default.

Which such decent performance, Point of View (POV) 8600GT EXO will lbe on top list of GF8600GTs fight
Not only its overclocking potencial, but with some rich multimedia features and its connectivity will be some added value to this card.

This vga is highly considerable and has great cost performance ratio especially for 8600GT market

With a regular 8600GT card we got a great performance card and it performs almost as fast as GF8600GTS
with some vmod this card will be a 128bit monster ..
i'll do some vmod later ...

PROS :
- Stock speed is set high
- Great Overclocking result
- Great Price (around $140)
- Rich multimedia interface
- Well built quality

CONS :
- less bundle
- draw more power than regular 8600GT card :D

looks like the 7600 GS has some competition if it comes to % oc's for the gpu:p:

but if you want real performance at still an acceptable price the 8800 gts remains the only option until we know the performance and price of rv670 and g9x cards....

"And here everybody's been calling the 8600GT slow"

well the gddr2 ones are,hes showing the gddr3 card.major difference.only slow part of the card is the 128 mem interface.wish they went with a 256 mem interface.regardless its a good deal.

watch which one u buy, heres the "slower one" using gddr2

Damn those are some pretty impressive numbers.

The 3dmark 06 numbers beat my old 7900 GTO at same cpu speeds but on dual core.

It is fast in pointless 3dmarks but dies instantly in games. Especially with AA. :)

Hi there!

I have the 8600gts model and it seems to be identical

http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/6581/frontmt3.jpg

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/1416/backad4.jpg

The memory type is the same: Qimonda 1.0ns HYB18H512321BF-10

Do you know how to do the volt-mod on this card?

My max result is 730Mhz GPU and 1050Mhz Memory (Atitool and 3dMark 2006 x 8hrs passed).

@756Mhz Atitool shows artifacts.

Thanks and sorry for my english...:p:
