If it was $350 rather than $500 for this 1.9ghz part, perhaps people would be willing to buy out of pure curiosity to bench. Until the prices fall I fear the grey haze over Barcelona will not lift even in the slightest(and definitely not fully until non server, AM2+ +2.5ghz parts of the architecture are out)

This is got to be the biggest joke.AMD makes everyone sign an NDA to write a review and basically filters it to be sure its ok and then sells them for 500 with no real benchmarks out there.

The barcelona doesn't even support HT3 afaik, its disabled in the core (wait for phenom). To be honest with you, I doubt HT3 will give much of a performance boost, its not as if the HT bus was choked anyways...the K8s simply couldn't perform calculations fast enough to keep up with Intel.

Not worth it for the average person. On XS some people will think it's worth it just to try out the new chips and see if they can overclock them to the Extreme?

what is the point of it without the ht3, ht2 has lower bandwidth to latency than ht1 so if thats teh case then i dont think that anything above the clasic 2xx would be worth getting

ht3 will be in the desktop parts only, the server k10 doesnt come with ht3...

but, server k10 is still a nice and cheap upgrade for the ones that have k8 opty's but dont want to replace the whole system.

AMD has no control over what stores sell them for. I expect the prices to fall once more stores have them and those that have to have what's new regardless of price are weeded out. Remember when 800xtpes were selling for $2000 on ebay? Being one of the firsts kids on the block to have one would be fun and while I could afford to buy a couple of these, I'll just wait for the situation and prices to calm down.

It is launch, retailers / e-tailers usually jack up the price at launch. It'll drop after a bit I'm sure.

For me I don't care too much, I'm waiting for the desktop chip (and money too).

Dont know where your getting $500 from, but I just looked at it is the price is $790... Thats WAY too much for this processor if you ask me. Especially when an Intel 2.33GHz quad goes for under $300.

They've been available in EU since the 11th at 2 stores at least. Price was NOT this ridiculous, this is strictly my native american way of thinking. :rolleyes: It was around 100EU more than it should be though and all of them have been sold out as soon as they've been stocked.

kyosen: Bro there's no OS2347PAL4BGC and OS2350WAL4BGC P/Ns for retail 1.9GHz K10s at all. AMD never made any of these for retail. The Newegg one is step BA and is made for retail by AMD.

AnandTechs versions were B1s apart from one 2.5GHz part which was B2, that's why you can't get them, and there's no B1s for retail at all - none. :)

Damn, $300 increase in a day, lol. It'll probably get worse for a while and they probably all get sold anyway. Anyone check ebay to see if any are up for auction. Wouldn't be supprised to see those who got the cheaper price reselling them on ebay.
