First off, the hardware:

Asus p5k mobo 0404 bios
q6600 mobo
x1900xtx video card
4 gigs crucial ballistix ram
150 gig raptorx, 750 gig WD cavair, 120 gig x2 seagates (serveral years old)

When I install ubuntu, i never gets to a point where I can choose a HDD. It just hangs. Strangely, kubuntu, which is just ubuntu w/ KDE installs fine and it's been running a few days.

I decided to install fedora core 6 to see what its like. It won't see a HDD either.

Sounds like linux has problems with the newer mobos? Anyone gotten fedora core to run on a p5k?
