I think any non-metal based would be best. They seem to seperate.

Heard good stories about artic alumina and used one myself successfully... (what they supply with MCW-5000PT).
Now... if you read the specs for their operational temp, you will find shin-etsu to have very low operational temp which is kind of wierd considering how hard it is to work with it when cold... Never tried it myself :P

I think arctic silver would work, just not the best.

it does work, but not optimal: it ain't developed for subzero usage

I use a silicone-based themal grease for my pelts because it does not conduct electricity. And I have heard of problems with AS III seperating at low temps too, but that could have just been a bad batch.

If the grease you plan to use will get anywhere close to the wire leads on the peltier, I'd say stay away from anything electrically conductive. I have an enormous power supply driving my pelts and do not want to risk a 52 Amp short through a little broken or cracked insulation. Might look somthing like this:

My house> :flame: <My computer

But that's me. And although pelts are coated, they are basicly one great big electical grid anyway, so if one cracks and a very conductive grease is there...well, you can figure it out from there I bet.
