hey guys,

Just wanted some help here with RMA procedure as I am getting memtest errors on my 2 x 1gb FlexXLC-9200 sticks I purchased bout a month back.

I've been running these sticks on my Q6600 & P35-DS4 for a while & have never really had a "stable" system.

Every now & then I would get random freezes & reboots when playing WOW.

So today I upgraded to latest beta bios (F6) & for the heck of it, I thought I'd run Memtest since I was using floppy drive...

Well, results aren't good... at 333fsb & ram running @ 1066 5-5-5-15(rest auto) I am getting errors in test 2...

I tried DDR2 800 @ 3-3-3-8 @ 2.3v as well to errors galore...

Even now I am getting errors in test 2 with ram speed at 800 4-4-4-12 @ 2.3v...

used to be bit more stable than this but now it's getting ridiculous...

Specs in my sig about rig.

Can U guys either give me some suggestions or pls show me to the RA procedure... Hopefully I can get some RAM that works with this board... I passed up on Reaper 8500 & paid $120 extra for these only to have troubles for so long...

Thanks,
Minny

Hello,

Not sure why you expect 3-3-3 at 800 to run, no guarantee's that it should work.

The P35 board has a 1066 divider at stock FSB speed (266) Set the FSB to 266, the ram speed to 1066. Then set the FSB to 288, that will put the ram at DDR2-1150.
Set the Ram voltage to 2.2 - 2.3V, set the NB core voltage (vMCH) to +0.2 or 1.40V (whichever is in the bios)
Set the timings to 5-5-5-15 with 2T and make sure Trfc is at 42 at least if you can control it in the bios.

Let me know how that runs.

the 3-3-3-8 was just a lil tryout. i knew I didn't buy it for that.

I'll try as U suggested & get back to ya. so far i have left other options cept main 4 timings alone.

thanks for quick response
edit 1:

I have tried as U have suggested & put cpu clocks back down to 266 & ran both auto (spd) & 4.0~, 4.0+ with other settings as U have requested. No good. Seems stick 2 is bad as I get about 30+ errors after a min or 2 from get-go with memtest.

I have taken pics on my phone (not sure bout quality) & can post it up in regards with settings in bios I have played with to get them to run as U have suggested.

Soon as I reboot, memtest86+ v1.70 loads & runs past test 1 to test 2 I get errors at 1940mb... Keeps climbing from there. Have no yet ran a full test but will update my post to reflect the results from a full run.

The only difference I see from your suggested timings & volts to my settings is that mine is set to 5-5-5-18 with 2t & trfc at 42... This is only at 1066 mind U... don't even wanna try 1150 atm til 1066 is considered ok.

Try taking one stick out mate, run memtest, then put the other in and memtest. I think you have a faulty dimm.

well. i ran 1 full run of memtest & it came back with errors on test 2, test 5 & test 6...

Most of the errors were located at stick 2 (1940MB)...

I took the OCZ ram out, put my Corsair 6400C4 sticks in @ the same timings etc as the OCZ RAM & it passed the test with flying colors...

Am about to put the OCZ ram into my P5W-DH & run some tests with that board. Looks like I am gonna need an RMA here for these 2 sticks..

Make sure that you test each stick alone in slot 1.

If you need and RMA just PM me.

Thanks

Ok. i have had the chance to test these sticks out on my P5E DH mobo & E6600 CPU...

1st stick I put in gave loads of errors...

Settings I used were:
CPU = no OC
RAM = DDR1067
Volts = 2.35v (set in bios)
Timings = 5-5-5-15 (with rest on auto)

Results were shocking to say the least...

Ran 2 complete tests & had about 500 errors in tests 2, 5 & 6 @ 970MB...

Have not even tried 1150 as i'm of the mind that if it cannot complete runs at 1067 w/out errors, there's no way it'll be doing 1150...

that is only 1st stick i have tested... running stick 2 now... Will update once I have completed...

Ok. tested stick 2 as well.... No good for that one too...

30mins memtest & i have got 8 errors, same settings as stick 1. Only that it has alot less errors... only 8 compared to 500...

Stick 2 reports that there's errors at 77.7mb, 629mb & a few more... whereas stick 1 only had errors at 970mb...

Andy, U have PM.

Update:
I went through RA process with OCZ but bcos I am broke, I just used my retailer to RA it for me...

Even my retailer 9good friend of mine) says the OCZ Ram has lots of issues with many a mobo...

Well, here's my history with OCZ... I bought the gold PC3700 series a while back, faulty... RA & then the new sticks did not like my mobo...

Every time I have tried my luck with OCZ RAM has been a failure...

The customer service is great but the issues with the mobo isn't so great...

I am using OCZ PSU & love it but I don't think I'll be using OCZ Ram anymore unless Tony or RyderOCZ or AndyOCZ test it themselves b4 sending me the ram...

As for my faulty sticks... well, when they come back, my retailer is gonna do me a swap for hand tested OCZ or Corsair... Leaning towards corsair here...

anyways... end of thread... issues resolved...

Much thanks to OCZ for being so supportive of me. I just wish my luck with OCZ ram was better...

Hi, your issue was a bad stick of RAM and not a motherboard compatibility problem. Please try the replacement kit, it should work just fine for you.

Thanks

sorry if I sounded like I was degrading OCZ... Have just had numerous bad luck with "OC" hardware...

ram dying (Corsair as well), brand new P5k Premium DOA... Logitech G15 k/board croaking it... all in 2-3 days:-(

Anyways, thanks for being so helpful & sorry if I sound like a nub

Got RAM back from RA... was choice of returning it "brand new" & getting some other RAM but I thought I'd give it a shot b4 I gave up on it...

Been running like 900+ @ 4-4-4-10 & testing it at 1000 @ 4-4-4-12 atm. So far so good...

Good thing I didn't change it to something else now :-)

Thanks again for support OCZ
