View Full Version : Best quad core OC mobo for $150 or less? (with raid 0 support)

I'm getting a G0 Q6600 in the next 2 weeks and I need some advice on a motherboard. I could spend more on a motherboard, but I refuse to on principle since a pimp AMD motherboard can be had for 80 something dollars. In this $150 price range what will get me the best overclock? *needs south bridge with raid 0 support*

Thanks. Those were the 2 I've been looking at, but just wanted to know if there was anything better out.

of course on XtremeSystems. Newegg reviews are bunch of noobs writing non-sense retarded comments.

I would not get the P5K Vanilla for a quadcore. After seeing a cap pop on someone's P5K when benching a quadcore, I'd say it's voltage regulation isn't up to snuff for what you need.
I would say that either the IP35, the DFI P35 Infinity, the DS3R, or the P5K-E is you can deal with $5 over your budget.

Sweet. That DFI board didn't come in my search for some reason. I've had 4 DFI boards in the past that were nothing but perfect so I think I'm gonna get that infinity board. It looks like it has the digital voltage regs as well unless I'm mistaken.

It looks like the DFI is using a 4-phase analog reg, which isn't too bad. After playing around a bit with a DS3P, I'm returning it to Newegg and getting the P5K-E instead. The 8-phase volt reg just looks too yummy to me. :p:

Where did you see the 8phase?

You guys are right, the first picture I found in google was low res.

what about the p5k-e its the same as the deluxe but no heatpipe to the south bridge and its $155, i think $5 more is well worth it

The P5k-E is in my wish list and I'll be ordering it next week!

I should be getting my P5K-E tuesday (thank the Lord for NewEgg's new jersey warehouse), so I can let you know how it handles my Q6600.

The reason why that person's cap pop because he was benching the motherboard with 1.7v+. Vcore

650i sucks when it comes to quadcore OCing. My P5N-E SLi had a wall at 335fsb.

There's plenty of cheap intel 775 boards without any raid support even on the P35 chipset.

I would love to snag a P5K-E if its SATA ports weren't so stupidly put that an Ultra or GTX would cover up half the slots..

There are mobos with the ICH9 instead of the ICH9R, although those probably would use a Jmicron controller for RAID or something.

i agree with you about msi. my favorite boards are abits and asus but some of their good oc boards get pricy. i have never used a dfi, but i have been curious about how they run... the first board i ever owned was an msi and it was horrible.
