I have a p5k mobo w/ a q6600. Whenever I try to install linux, It'll get the screen w/ the bar and state that is has loaded the primary drivers, then sits for a second and states that it has decompressed the linux kernel. Then it just hangs.

I'd tried installing the 64 bit 6.06 version.

Anyone had this issue?

please tell me that your CPU is running at stock speed, while you were attempting to install

I have no OC at all on this computer. I don't even have windows on it (awaiting a windows disk in about 1 hour).

All settings are stock other than disabled the floppy and specified the ram timings. Nothing insane.

are you sure the disc is good?

Nope, I didn't.

I've run ubuntu before and never had to. Thanks for the idea...

I can't get to the install via the live cd. I just never got that far.

I'm more curious if this board has problems w/ linux in general.

try doing slackware its a little more stable and not hardware specific

www.slackware.org

if it works in slak then its drivers if it wont do that then the boards got problems
