Okay I want to buy a Zalman 9700 but it has a 4 pin header my motherboard is a server motherboard and has a five pin header . What do the wire colors
Black, Blue , Green and Yellow mean on a fan ? Only 4 wires are coming out of the fan but its configured in five like so

It's one of the only ones that will fit on my case.
Here is a pic of my motherboard for reference .

Second that SaFrOuT! I regret buying it, today I would have gone for the Thermalright 120 extreme ultra, or the nochtua nf12.

LOL that would never fit, FYI: I'm not overclocking I'm just trying to drop some tems. @ 100% it goes up to 63C I'm not comfortable at that level

But with its height it should fit. Any help with the wires would be great please.

You can plug in a 3pin in a 4pin, so I'd venture to guess that you could plug in a 4pin in a 5pin too.

Why? I thought it performed VERY well, on my power-sucking-dont-need-a-heater-in-the-winter QuadFX setup. Other than the fact that it is a tad loud at full rpm, and my L1N64 cant set max speed (go zalman fanmate2s!) At full load I think it topped out around 42-45c.
I've since moved on to Watercooling for silence's sake, but I still use them. My oc'd 3600@2.9ghz runs full tilt about 39c.

Quite frankly I don't get why you think it's so bad safrout? On my Opty 170 it doesn't matter what I use since it runs hot as an as.s on fire anyhow. I like the Zalman 9700 :) It cools ok, and when using the fancontroller that came along with it I run it at 5v and I can't hear it.
