been waiting for the next ATI card for a while now to replace my ageing GF3 but it seems to have gone quiet now. anyone know when they are supposed to be out?
im simply not going to pay £350 for a 9800 pro when the better 9900 is just round the corner and will most likely blow it away.

After the 9900 comes out, the NV40 and R10000 will be just round the corner, so you will want to wait again... Buy a 9800 Pro or FX 5900 now, they will handle all games now + in future fine, and you get the card NOW :)
erm no they wont be around the corner they wil be several months away rather than a few weeks. i will also be paying the same price now for a 9800 as i would be paying for a 9900 in a few weeks.
so back to my original question, if the 9900 isnt going to be out for a while yet and/or isnt going to be much better than a 9800 pro, then i may get a 9800 instead, if the 9900 is due in the next few weeks then ill wait.

I have no idea when the 9900 might be out, but what I can say it that if you do get a 9800 Pro you will not be dissapointed, it's a GREAT card.
so great that the fx5900 beats it? uhuh

Apparently the FX5900 does just beat it, but at the cost of picture quality, well that's what I've heard anyway. Also the FX 5900 takes up 2 PCI slots and has a loud arse fan on it, the 9800 Pro takes one slot and does not sound like a rocket taking off!
yeh thats why im looking at ATI still, quiet, 1 slot and better picture.

The 5900 Ultra is much quieter than the 5800 and if you get the Leadtek, you won't lose any PCI slots, not that I ever use the PCI slot below the AGP slot anyway.
