Hi my freind build the following computer.

E4300
Gigabyte DS3
2GB of ram
OCZ GameXtreme
7950GT KO.

And he has a IDE CD Drive that he got from his old computer, and an IDE hard drive that has been formatted.

Now he is having these problems.

He has only one IDE port on his motherboard, and he has the blue side in the Motherboard, he has one part on his Hard drive and another on his CD drive.

He boots of the CD, and windows loads all the neccasary files, but it says it cannot find his hard disk and must abort.

We are not sure which jumper settings to try, and he has two jumpers, one on both the hard drive and CD drive.

Any advice? And yes they are plugged in from the 4 pin molex connector.

The drives should show what jumper setting is what.

You want the HDD set to Master w/Slave, and the CD drive should be the slave. If they are on cable select, it will be determined by the cable at which point you need the first connector (shorter distance) on the HDD and the connector at the end on the CD drive.

Don't use cable select since it will not always work right outside of OEM computers. Set the harddisk to master (or master with slave with some models) and set the CD drive to slave like Soulburner said.
