What other programs out thier perform the same actoins as 3D Studio Max? I have 3DSM but lags really bad on my system but I still want to do 3d Graphics!
prodesktop, autocad
if 3d studio max lagged though your not gonna be much better with the above titles
what are your system specs?

GF 2 Hercules 3D Prophet
Maxtor 40GB HD
Thats the basics and essentials for 3D Designing. Whats my bottleneck? Graphics card?

Cinema 4D is very good, and I think a little lighter than 3DSM.
My old system is almost the same as yours, (accept 768MB RAM). So your board doesn't use DDR RAM huh? That will be a problem, speed wise. Really, if your gonna do some hardcore 3D graphics, all I can say is you need a more up to date system, with a good fast CPU, and planty of good quality fast RAM.
Common misconception: need good graphics card for CAD etc and 3D design
the graphics card only displays it, the processor and memory do the work.
A new mobo, a bit of DDR-RAM and a Barton CPU for the extar cahce (whcih will help for 3D) would get you going better.

Haha good but bad to know. Good to know whats seriously going on, but bad becuase I get $1500 at the end of the month..All goes toward car! Thanks guys!
