My buddy CSHawkeye81 from these forums and I did a quick overclocking/benchmark comparison. It's only Sandra 2002 and 3DMark2002SE- but it will give a general idea of how an overclocked P4A compares to an overclocked AthlonXP (Thourobred) system with similar hardware.
My XP system:
AMD AthlonXP 2200+ (T-Bred) @ 2.1Ghz
512Mb Samsung PC2700

this should give most ppl the basis on how the top end ocing chips will be in the next few months.

Hawk, your chip isnt a top end chip. The 2.26B is a much better example of Intels Line, usually overclocking to 2.9 - 3.0ghz aircooled.

That doesnt matter. The 1.6A is no longer being produced, and therefore cannot be bought.
Pricewise, the XP2200 is on par with a 2.26b (In Australia anyway).

That's kind of a crazy statement, You can easily buy a 1.6a today and Im sure you can get one tomorrow.....Brand new

that is wierd how Sandra scores overclocked P4 against stock settings
did anyone else notice this?

why is stock 2.6 smocking the oc'd 1.6 @ 2.8???

hmm...that is really wierd.
it should actually be much more, sicnce the fsb is clocked @ 175 when running 1.6a o 2.8...?

Heh yeah... Companies still have the 1.6A's in stock... so you can still buy them, but down the road no. AMD stopped making durons too.. but gee, they're EVERYWHERE aren't they?

Thanks for the thread, it's a great idea. Now, if I had a good vidcard, and a P4 or T-Bred, I'd post here too :D.
And I have to agree, JBell should lose the avatar....:stick:
That isnt quite a fair comparison. ALthough the fsb is the same, the p4 has much more bandwidth due to it being quad pumped. I would like to see the scores at 200fsb+ on the tbred with a lower multiplier. Open up the bandwidth to its max for the p4 and the tbred on each board.

well we just wanted to show you guys a jist of how ppl are doing with both sides and how well its going on, also for not the ax478 is a pos on my system i get idle temps at 2.8 at 49c while the alpha 8942 gave me idle temps of 47c both full loads are aound 61c so i dont think i will be running at this for too long unless i get my watercooling, so its back to 2.66 ghz for now.

Run that Intel at 2.5 instead, then a direct comparison will be more accurate.
A tbred at 2.1 in intel language is rated around 2.5 isn´t it?

DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA AS TO WHY THAT MAY BE???
because it SHOULD be the exact opposite, since OC'd 1.6a has much bigger bandwidth...
