I just got a new mobo with the screw holes in the board so I got more options than I did before when it comes to cooling.

What is the best Air Cooler for a Barton 2500+?

I am thinking either MCX462+ w/92mm Tornado fan or a SLK-900 w/ same fan.

BTW, I am aiming to hit 2.4ghz with some pretty decent Temps, I currently can't do that on my OCZ cooler.

I give my vote to the MCX462+........ been using the 462's in almost all of my AMD systems for quite a while. I think that anymore, any of the higher end air coolers are going to be about the same +/- a couple degrees of each other.

i'd probably go with the least expensive of the 2. they're going to preform about the same.

anyway, 2.4GHz might not be easy to hit. i'm having trouble finding a XP1700 that'll do it.

I can do 2.4ghz, but it take 1.85 volts. So, my temps then are like 57C load.......so I'm back at 2.2ghz and 1.7volts.

I decided to go with the SLK900 cause I found it for 48.00 @ KDC

I got it and the 92mm vantec tornado and the noise was unbareable. I hit 2.4 completely stable and infact almost up to 2.5ghz but it would lock up everytime I tried to run 3Dmark03. Max stable with that was 2.46ghz.

I shipped that back CAUSE OF THE UNBAREBLE NOISE and got a Liquid Aquarius II on the way.

From what I hear, the thing is just as effective as a slk900 with the Tornado fan, but you get the low DBA advantage comes in to play :D Mabey I can hit 2.5 on there, if I am lucky.
