My P4S800-D was fine when I powered it off early tonight but when I tried to turn it on just now it would flicker but turn off immediately. It did that a few times but now it doesn't even do that. I unplugged the 20 pin and 6 pin connectors and tested the power supply...turned on fine.
Tried clearing the CMOS also...nothing. Turned on and off the power supply as well...nothing.
Whats going on? Did my beloved P4S800 die?

Did you have the system overclocked?
And you cleared CMOS, so it may be that you have a fried Mobo my friend, dont worry, just had one die also, pretty sure it was due to reaching it's overclock limits.

Hmm after trying numerous times of pushing the power button, it finally came on and stayed on. Not sure what caused it still.

Damnit it shut itself off again...not sure whats going on still. What the hell? Power supply works fine by itself...tested with another PSU same result, won't power on, just flickers.

is the heatsink on properly, on the cpu? cause it could be overheating as soon as it heats up. like when u had it on and it got to hot and turned off?

The few times it did boot into windows, the idle temp for the cpu was 22c under water.
i experienc the same problem with my mobo after flashing the bios with new version < So. i flash it again with the old version and it works fine

Can't flash it if it won't stay on longer than 2 seconds :D only rarely does it stay on for like 5 minutes...I guess I can gamble that and just wait.

Ok its officially dead. Took it out and tried to jump it with just a 20 pin connector and a fan to see if it turns on...nothing.

Well , last try < remove the CPU and reinstall it again

Heh...I've been trying to power it up without a cpu. Still nothing :(
