They just said it would actually be out a month earlier than their last "delay", so this means August/September... Should be interesting! :)

The opteron is already out and it's performing very well. I've that it's selling very well in the same areas where the athlon mp was used. Now we'll have to see if it'll go up and take more shares.
The athlon64 is due for september, AMD can't afford to retard the release of the chip too long

They are already sampling 3400+ chips from what I hear. I believe they will be ready to go in September. Btw, 3400+ should be at 2GHz clock.

sooner the better, 800mhz fsb intel chips are crushing AMD

you can already buy a 3100+ opteron with an nforce3 mainboard for about 1500$ bundled on xicomputer.com

man i'm gonna get shot for this one, but it's been a long day and i really don't feel like searchin before i post so: does the athlon64 have anything like Hyper-Threading goin on or is it just a 64 bit proc?

just a 64bit cpu ?

its a cpu that can run both, 32bit and 64bit at full speed natively.
it has 1mb of L2 cache.
it has a built in memory controller with very low latencies.
it has a ihs like the P4 so no more cracked cores.
it has an overheating protection so no more smoked cores.
it has full sse2 support.
it has a 800mhz fsb (real 800mhz! not 200 quadpumped like the P4...)

no hyperthreading.... yet! amd is already working on dual core hammer cpus ;)

nice. soooo you think i can still keep my fps high as a mofo while encoding a nudie flick on this new athlon64? cos i'm an amd guy, but i can't resist the HT nevermind the insane clocks... i guess i'll see when the time comes. for now, it's HT for me! ...well, in a month or so... *sigh*

athlon64 is bad in mathematical operations afaik, but its a great if not the best gaming cpu...

go to xbitlabs.com and search for "athlon64" he tested the sample pretty much with every important bench.

I tohught A64 had FSB same speed as processor? not 800mhz

where did you hear that?

it has a hypertransport link to the memory (or 2 not sure there) running @ 800mhz
