I am going to mount a very large radiator about 10 feet under my pc and I need a pump to run the coolant through the radiator and up to the pc. I don't care in any way how large the pump is or how noisy. It just needs to be POWERFUL.I am planing to use a radiator from a Honda. The one I have in mind as relatively small as far automotive radiators go. I am placing the radiator and pump in the basement to keep noise and unsightly equipment out of my apartment. Also the basement is always cooler than my apartment. Of course cost is a concern here. I am not really sure what kind of pump to use at all. It would be nice if I could keep everything AC.

You probably already know this, but eBay often has merchants dumping loads of all types of radiators in one hit. If you can pick an unpopular model, you'll get a bargain. These aren't too bad (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIESTA-RADIATOR-CX-89-96-ORIGINAL-VISTEON-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ260133184373QQihZ016QQcategoryZ21654Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) for £30, but you could get better, I think.

I got this Nissan Sunny radiator (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230140245993&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=013) last week. Brand new, factory condition. And it cost me £11 including delivery. It's a bit bigger than I thought a Sunny radiator would be, but thats okay  There was also this guy (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140126608669&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2F search.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle% 3D140126608669%26fvi%3D1) selling a lot of cheap units. He had a few auctions that didn't even get bids (http://search-completed.ebay.co.uk/radiator_W0QQcatrefZC5QQfbdZ1QQfclZ2QQfisZ2QQflocZ 1QQfposZSW3Q206NJQQfromZR6QQfrppZ200QQfsooZ1QQfsop Z1QQfssZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQga10244Z10425QQnojsprZy QQnojsprZyQQpfidZ0QQsaaffZafdefaultQQsabdhiZ0QQsab dloZ0QQsabfmtsZ0QQsacatZQ2d1QQsacqyopZgeQQsacurZ0Q QsadisZ200QQsaobfmtsZexsifQQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslZspare suneedQQsaslcZ0QQsaslopZ1QQsasltZ2QQsofocusZbs), so he'll probably put them up again.

Heh, your described setup got me thinking ( sorry, I'm relatively new to watercooling )... a setup with a 3m (10ft ) vertical drop would mean, when static, there'd be roughly 0.3 atm (4.25 psi) pressure at the bottom... which isn't much, but it made me curious to hear if anyone runs a pressure gauge in their rig? I imagine line pressures wouldn't normally rise too much above static, would they?

I've seen pumps rated at 50psi and more, but I've always presumed no setup would even run near 10% of that. I mean, when everyone sees "50psi" they just think "awesome flow rate" right? I don't remember ever seeing pressure relief valves in the watercooling section!

Or, am I about to discover a secret sub-culture of high-pressure watercooling freaks? Yep, they're probably hanging out with those shady peltier characters, who I only see every now and again :D
