hey, i recently installed brand new CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 PC2 6400 TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO sticks on my new EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 mobo. the stock timings for the ram are 4 4 4 12, but when set to "optimal" in the memory timing setting window in BIOS, the ram is set to 5 5 5 18. when changed back to stock timing, i get BSODs . . has this happened to anyone else / is it even a problem that the memory is set to 5 5 5 18?

help would be appreciated. thanks

JEDEC Standard is 5-5-5-18 which the board is reading as "Optimal" with a voltage of like 1.8v

To get the C4PRO to 4-4-4-12 you need to manually set 4-4-4-12 in BIOS and increase voltage to 2.1v or 2.15v whatever runs more stable as stated from corsair for those settings.

Also after thats set run Memtest 86+ v1.7 to test stability.

thanks for the info, but will increasing the voltage = more heat. . is that safe for the stock heatsinks?

The 2.1v is the Corsair specs for that ram to run at DDR2 800mhz 4-4-4-12 DDR2 800mhz @ 2.1v.... Yes with voltage comes heat, and Corsair has warrantied those sticks to run DDR2 800mhz 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v for life :D

Link for further confirmation :)

EDIT: I personally have used these modules, if they are revision like XMS6404v1.3 (I think previous revisions to 1.3 also are Micron based.) they are most likely Micron based IC's and they OC quite well, mine took DDR2 1000 4-4-4-12 @ 2.3v, subtimings were kinda crappy though, I wouldnt suggest OCing them unless you know what your doing, and have some active cooling on them. Just telling you from a performance standpoint they are quite nice

Those PRO heatsinks cool very well.

Set the sli ready memory to EXPERT that should give you the factory timmings
