Little Thread stealing....
but regarding those Yate's

there is a model with 47cfm and 28db ...

and these are 70cfm and 33db ...i know db is sensitive, how much is that 5db diffrent? is there a huge sound diffrence with this 5db?

and u can power down them to 7v and still get like 50-60cfm and thats NICE..
and get like 20db? hehe ..just my theory..

^^ Noise doubles every 6dB.

So 5dB more is just short of Twice the noise.

33 dBa is silent as a night though.

The db ratings on the Yates seem to be very kind. I have the high speed version and they don't make my ears bleed like the Sunon fan I used before.

Just check out Vapor's field testing in the air cooling forum. It should provide you with all of the answers you'll need. But yes, Yates are the best bang for the buck fans I've purchased.

My order of 4 of the 70CFM ones came in the other day. Mounted it to the shroud of my PA160 (yet to be installed, just testing), and damn they're quiet!

Little thread hijacking, but should you mount a fan on the PA160's shroud in push or pull?

Yate Loon D12SLs are entirely inaudible when running @ 7v mod.

Trust me. I have picky ears. :fact:

Plus they are very inexpensive; just clip the uglyass molex connector, throw on some sleeving and heatshrink and you're set.

I just fond a UK store with some Orange DS12SL so i have treated my self to another 5. They are great, :D

I'm running 7 SM's on my Horizon. At 12V, you can barely hear the machine running, it just kinda sounds like a faint whisper, like a central air unit blowing. At 7V, you can't really hear anything at all. Great choice!

There seems to be (at least) two types of Yate-Loon D12SL's around. The fan blade pitch & shape is visibly different. I have some Yate's here, and on the sticker, just above the "Yate Loon Electronics" writing, there's a 3-digit number. On one fan the digits read "510", and the blade shape is more straight and appears to have a flatter pitch, while another Yate I have here has the digits "701", and the blades appear significantly more curved, and have a slightly steeper pitch.

I haven't measured the performance difference between these two Yate sub-types.

The 3-digits may refer to the manufacturing date? The first digit being the year? 200x. And the last two digits the week of the year?

Looks like mine are 606s. That's all I've got, and I've got a LOT of them.

Am I on to something? :D

The fan blades look much like my "510" ones.

I've got the same fan/rad and I've had several members already recommend to me:

1:Not mount the shroud This could be because of my case, a
v1000, and the location of the rad which will be bottom left, as the area
itself will act as a 'shroud'.

2:Mount fans in pull.

But why get 4 for $20 there when you can get 5 for $17.50 here?

It used to be 5/$15, but I guess the sale ended

My fans are all closed corner, so this has nothing to do with that debate.

704's here. I must be looking crosseyed or something and cant tell any differences. Hmmm, different performance levels between versions of the same fan like the 'A' and 'B' chip voltage levels? :D
