Hi everyone,
I´m having big problems with my rig. I have asus striker extreme and two kits of 2 gig ocz sli-ready 8500. Using last bios. First I tried to use the four modules and everything to auto, the computer was completely unstable. I forgot completely about using four gigs and I started using only 2 modules. With everything to auto the pc is able to pass memtest. But with the auto settings the memory only works to 800.

I pump the volts to 2.2 and set the memory speed to 1066, to which this memory is rated. Timmings to auto. With this configuration, the pc won´t even boot!!!

No matter what configuration I use I can`t boot to 1066 in the memory. I´ve tried with sli-memory enable and unable, but no luck. I´ve tried with only one module and the same. I doubt the four sticks are broken. So either I´m forgetting to set something in the bios or the mb is broken.

Anyone with this configuration or similar could give the bios configuration they use to make it work.

Any ideas will be apreciatted.

Thanks for the answer.

Hello,

Try 1 or 2 bios files back, the latest bios has shown to cause some issues.

None of your 4 sticks will boot the board if you set it up like this: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=220881&postcount=1

Keep in mind you may have to set up to 2.3V for the ram.

Thanks for tha answer.

I´ve tried to put 2.3 and to set the bios settings in the link you provided. Remains the same completely unstable. Also tried with the last three bios and much of the same.

I´m looking to build a rig with 4 gigs. What do you recommend me, to get other ocz sticks or to remain with this ones and get a new board??

I recommend a new board for 4GB right now.

I'm not sure about SLI memory, but check that the timings are rated. I tried to boot as stock, with my 1066mhz reapers at 800mhz, but it was unstable, checked in nb settings and it said i was at 3-3-3-7

You need to use higher nB Vcore to get it stable. About 1.4-1.45 should be enough.

The board really needs a lot of Juice to get the RAM clocking.

Sorry this is kinda off topic, but is there any known issues with 2gb of this memory and a P5B deluxe? Im considering an upgrade but I dont want something that wont work too well...

I´ve tried all voltage combinations, and no luck. Looking in other forums I´ve found that setting the memory to 667 with 4 GB the systems is rock solid. With this settings I can pass memtest during 30 hours. Maybe with future bios I can set higher mem speeds.
No idea about the P5B deluxe sorry.

The P5B works fine with all of our current high end DDR2 memory. The Striker is a very different board unfortunately has a few issues.

Unfortunately I have the same trouble with my Crosshair board, I sent my 1066SLi memory back for RAM, and the second set is now dead as well....

Tried to reach Asus about this issue, but with no luck, seems the D9GMH is not supported by these Asus boards, the D9GKX is, so I will give them a try, or kick this Asus board to he..

I read on the OCZ forums that they were trying to get a fix for the striker MB. Something about ASUS bios and ram timings.

Thats my hope, to wait for a new bios that fixes the problem.

Have you guys checked out the new BETA BIOS for the Striker boards at www.asus.com ?

It supposedly helps when running 4gb.

I never had problems with my OCZ PC2-8500 Reapers on my Striker Extreme. Even Ram Voltage settings on auto, stock CPU config.

I have succesfully ran Overclocks in 3dmark06 on both Vista(16k) (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2192577) and XP(18k) (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2324422) with the same ram, in fact 4gbs worth on Vista! Are you sure it is the RAM that is the problem?

EDIT: Striker Extreme bios 1202, and did you say 2GB sticks? or 2x1gb sticks?

I'm running 4GB of 9200 Flex right now with the Striker Extreme and Vista Ultimate x64. I'm running the latest BIOS (1301) which seems to have cured the 4GB issues.

I have the memory running at 933 (Set it to 950 in the BIOS) with 5-5-5-15-2T timings.

NB is 1.4v (Set it to 1.35V in the BIOS)

Memory is 1.34v (Set it to 1.3V in the BIOS)

Finally, the memory is water cooled as well.

I'm glad to hear that the new BIOS that ASUS put out is working for you guys. It seems to help anyone I have asked to flash it, even noobs. What the heck took them ASUS so long!

Thanks Andy. Kudos to OCZ for having such great technical support.

Asus could really learn a few lessons from you guys.
