We shall see how it works out.

BTW, it's a 92mm tornado to go on my slk-900....

It's loud... ill tell ya that much. I have a 92MM tornado on my SLK800 sitting right next to me, no rheobus or anything. I sleep in the same room, with it on, but it took some time to get used to it.

I can't sleep with my current computer, so I got teh rheobus.

I sleep with my computer too, she's loud but I snore so we both get along. She just hates me waking her up for a quikie though:D

Yea, mine too. she always has to close the CD tray on me. Just when I'm about to insert my "CD".:smileysex

I got a 92mm Tornado myself with a rheobus. I have it on a SK-7 though. This thing is so awesome, and with the rheobus I can leave it at about 3K RPM and it cools very well. Full blast the thing is very loud. My roomate was complaining cuz she could hear it in her room while I was testing it out full blast.:D Basically you will be very happy. I have a Sunbeam too, which is awesome, cuz it puts out 20W per channel. :)

I got it today:)

I have it at about 2800rpm, and it's not bad. At full throttle it's a lot more high pitchd than I thought it would be.

I wonder how much air it moves at ~3000rpm. Is it a linear slope from 4800rpm, and 119cfm?

I have a 80-mm tornado and it was making me go deaf so I connected it to the 'fan only' PSU connectors of my Antec TrueControl so I can control the fan speed. Now my hearing is back!

Yeah it did take a few weeks to get use to. my parents almost made me to get rid of it because of how loud it was.

That is a very good question, I've been wondering the same thing myself.

If it is, then it should look like this:

92mm Tornado @ 3000rpm = 74cfm

Again, this is an "if", but let's compare that to a Stealth which runs at 1750rpm

92mm Stealth @ stock = 28cfm

92mm Tornado @ 1750rpm = 43cfm

Those are some very good numbers aren't they? I wonder what the noise is like at 1750rpm?
Sandman, can you hear your tornado at that speed? Cause the stealth is virtually silent.

Look at the airflow specs from a Vantec Thermoflow (thermally controlled fan)

Fan Speed: 1850 ~ 3100 RPM

Air Delivery: 34.8 ~ 58.5 CFM

If you do the math, this seems to be linear :D

So one could assume that the tornado would be as well.

I have also thought about this question. I personally do not think it is linear. It might be from a certain range of RPM's to the next, but I think once you get to the top it starts to jump around. I would say though that at like 3k you are lookin at between 60-70CFMs. It might be close to linear, but I am not sure. it does throw out quite a bit of air though even on the lower RPM's. :)

It will only run down to about 2200rpm, but it is silent at that speed, and still gives a good breeze.

I'm sure at 1750rpm it would be very quiet, because with my other fan totaling around 35dba, I can't hear it above the rest below 2800rpm.

Well Royal Oaks, maybe we can agree that it's close enough to linear for "estimation purposes" :D

Hmmm.....I might have to pick up one of those if it's that quiet.

Yea, that's fine with me. I'm not really that concerned about a fan output. I was just also curious about it and it seemed at higher RPM's the thing really starts movin. Anyways yea I would pick one up if you are on air. They will fit on any top of the line ThermalRight heatsink other than the SLK-600 (I am referring to the 92mm piece of course). I'm usin one with the SK-7 and it works great. I would say get it at SVC cuz they are only $14, but you are in CAN. :(

Make sure you get a fan controller that allows 0-12V regulation though, some fan controllers only go to 7V. I have a sunbeam rheobus, and it works liek a charm, and looks nice.

If I get one I'll be going for a 92mm or 120mm (I've heard there is such thing but I've yet to see them) and mounting it in the top for my case for my radiator.
We have several good online stores up here for getting fans so that's not a problem. The problem is buying RAM.....if you want name brand stuff then basically take the price of generic and multiply by two :(

Good to know about the Sunbeam rheobus, I've seen them but was unsure cause I'd never heard of them before.

Wow! :slobber:

Thanks for the link Ruantic. Looks like that thing is too powerful for most rheobuses.

Yeah a bit much for the average rheo, but you could easily make something for it.. Like to have a few of those, building a Hovercraft :D

Man and I thought my 92mm Tornado was something :slobber: Unfortunately my Sunbeam will not handle that thing, unless I want to run it at half speed all the time (which would still be an incredible amount of air). Talk about a beast though, 190CFM's :slobber:

same here, cant even here it over the TT SF2's. Turns at 3200-3600 RPM while folding.

I've been thinking about taking an old laptor power adaptor thats rated for about 13.8V and hook the tornado on that and hope it don't cause to much motor heat. If that works I'll see what 15V does. (doesn't say it voids the lifetime warrenty)
