DOes it fit snugly into a drivebay like a cd drive would or does it hang way out into the case?

Will it power a 226 watt or lesser pelt?

It will power a 226W and 80W at same time. As far as fitting it depends on the case.:)

They are 9 inches long. You will need to leave room around it for ventilation.

Do you have the other dimensions?

So it has to have airflow all the way around? Or can it be resting on top of say my Cd writer? Would some sort of hardrive cooler be good to glue to it on the top?

I would not rest any power supply on top of anything. As far as a hdd cooler I really can,t answer that.

So would just suspending it somewhere (where there doesnt have to be much airflow) be okay? Or should i put it in the bottom of my case where there is more.

It needs airflow just like any other ps.

So whats the best way to cool it? How much do those little shuttle cases go for? Thatd be about the right thing to have.

You can mount it in your drive bay, just leave the drive bay above it empty, and if you have room the one below it empty as well. I would also use a HD cooling fan on the front of your case dive bay. This should be fine. It has a cooling fan built in you just need to provide some airflow to the psu.

I found a pretty cool Mod site, hjas lots of things. Link below. Im gonna get a blowhole window with 2 fan holes in it from 'em and mod it in to get some airflow up there.

if you have room you can leave it at the bottom of your case, provided you can remove a drive cage.
but mine gets hot as hell, it's a old cheapo from Ebay.

it's about time I look for a better one.
some people use ham radio PSUs from radioshack as these provide near identical specs, and can be had for dirt cheap.

I'd just stick it in a drive bay with a couple 40mm fans stuck in the drive face plate.

Meanwell comes with 60mm sunon fan which activates once it goes over certain temp. I found the PSU to be running generally warmer than most PSUs especially on right back (back being the wire connection part) where it connects to 2 regulator. If you mount that side to case so case act as heat sink as well as leaving 1 hdd room for it to vent air upwards, I see no problem. My suggestion would be to cut out that 60mm fan part and attach quiet 80mm fan to cool it (blow in or out your pick) to keep it warm instead of cool.
