and other sources. These estimates are NOT official - but are based on official information.

Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
RAM: 1GB
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Recommended Requirements
CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GT or ATI X1800XL Pro (SM 3.0)
RAM: 1.5GB+
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Personally I think their requirements are bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:.

How can you require a 6600/X1600 when a 9800pro is not only SM2.0 but is faster than BOTH of those cards?

because they don't want 1,000 people a day calling and flooding their e-mail with questions about why their 4 year old video card can't run the game properly. it's just the nature of the business. lots of people will buy it anyway and then wonder why their 512 mb of ram isn't enough or complain that it needs a dvd player when all they have is a cd drive.
at least you got a little while to find a better card.

And yet people with 440MX's will still whine about how their "awesome" card can't run it on lowest!! "OMG WTF BBQ SAUCE!"

SO my 2.6GHZ X2 with 8800GTS 320MB will play @ 1280X1024 with everything @ max with AA

I don't think so

why is this news again? when UT2K3, far cry, doom 3, hl2, FEAR came out, 95% of gamers couldn't play it on highest settings. high system requirements just bring the inner maniac in me.

I don't complain about highest settings at all, infact I like a game where it's far ahead of its generation. But what I am complaining about is that a 6600 and X1600 can play the game but not a 9800pro despite them both having SM2.

those are the minimum stated requirements.
not the minimum actual requirements

do you honestly expect them to list EVERY single card?

besides, who here actually uses an x1600?

huh. I'm kind of disappointed. I was hoping that the minimum would be a little higher.

disappointed? why? as if the minimum system requirements says anything about the game.

a game doesn't need to have high minimum system requirements in order to look good.

It would be great if my X1900GT could run Crysis & Quakewars on 1680x1050 on medium/high :p:, but i think Crysis is going to be much heavier on this resolution.

yes it does, means they have tweaked it for poor hardware which means high end won't be as high...

Oh come on, just because it scales well on different sorts of hardware doesn't mean it isn't able to take advantage of every little bit of juice your high end hardware has..

And even if you are right, just look at the footage.. hehe

Slap yourself as hard as you can, then put baby powder in your hand and slap yourself again.

What the hell are you talking about?

In some tests, the rare 256MB version - possibly... but go slap yourself

PS: What the hell? This isn't [T]ard Forum. People need to stop making ludicrous statements.

Some of you guys should check out the info more closely on incrysis etc, the developers have stated that there is code in the game that wont be usable for a year to 18 months because the hardware isnt here yet, so i dont think people will be playing this game with everything up on full for a while yet despite what these unofficial specs say. Its only recently gone Alpha so i doubt they can say with any certainty what res with which settings will be playable on what cards until they have finished optimizing.

I'm sure when its done that it will be playable on a wide-range of systems, my guess is any 7000 series and the equivalent with a decent cpu should be happy upto 1280x1024 with it looking pretty decent but i doubt they'd be very comfortable at full settings + AA. Anyone with an mx440, fx5200 etc can watch the rest of us play it on an mpg from youtube. An 8800 and above is where it will be best.

Can I go and slap myself as well? :stick:

Seriously though, my comment was more sarcastic than anything. Even w/ my 8800 clocked to 675MHz/1100MHz and my x6800 clocked to 3.6 I am thinking that this game will be a nogo on my 27" LCD w/ any settings above mediocre. I don't plan on going SLI and I am definitely not shelling out another organ to buy a high end G90 this Fall so....

If I can play the game at close to ultra or max settings with dynamic lighting and AA, AF and all that on my 1440x900 GTS 8800 640K OC'd E6420 system (breathe) I'll be a happy camper.

it should be playable at max settings in 2 years time

If you don't have any of these things and you need a new motherboard too, you're still looking at a hefty layout, but to play at max settings this seems surprisingly reasonable to us. Well, not quite max settings. Crysis actually has graphical features built in that no PC available this year will be able to make use of. Cevat estimates it'll be 18 months after release before technology catches up with his game. They put these features in partly to keep Crysis current after release - they say it'll be the best-looking game for the next three years - but also, let's face it, because they're enormous graphics geeks.

looks like a promising engine. a well scaling graphics engine is key to any games success.

a game doesn't need to have high minimum system requirements in order to look good. I agree. Look at HL2. The game looked great for its time and scaled very well on old hardware.

I would guess they will release the game sometime around UT3.

Not necessarily. Chronicles of Riddick had a very wide range of settings and supported system configs but at the highest settings it just looks awesome
