alright i know these ?s are in the wrong forum, but this is one of the more heavily browsed so i figured id get a quicker response...

which brand makes better monitors? nec or viewsonic. im personally trying to decide between VS p95f+ and nec fe991. any better 19" crts out there?

also, which dvd burner is best to go with for under $200 i've seen a few on newegg with good prices and reviews, i jsut want one that burns on dvd-r/rw not that +r/rw crap...

I've owned several Viewsonic and love them IMO the P95f+ is less expensive than the NEC ?

I would try to find a drive that writes both standards for dvd, I have the Pioneer A04 but I am replacing it with a new sony for just that reason.

I got this 19'' monitor sony g420s.....it is simply amazing......it can do 1600x1200 @89hz....it is not the max resolution....but it is the only resolution for every day use....

i can't stand my screen that small, i use 1152*864 @ 85 hz on my dell m991 right now, but this monitor is gettin kinda old... i dont even notice a difference between 75 and 85 hz...

maj, the p95f is actually more at newegg... but it can run higher rez @ higher refresh rates, but i don't know what to do... lots of ppl have NECs which makes me think that they're pretty good. How does this drive look? http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=a05

I have the A04, its a very nice dirve. The A05 is a good choice especially concidering the price, I think I paid $450 for mine 6 months ago ! hehe

The new Sony drives read and right every cd and dvd standard, I have 6 dvd players between my house and my daughters house. The -r format works in 4 of them. 2 refuse to play dvd I burn on the A04 so getting a drive that offers both - and + format might be worth concidering.

well i suppose ill just buy dvd players until i get one that plays what i need.. i have 3 of em right now and none of em can read burned stuff, so i think the A05 is what I'll go with... Do you think that it would be worth it to go with an xtra plain old cd drive? or should the A05 be good enough for all my needs?

I've got viewsonic PF815 22" that i've had for 3 years now. Still looks great!!!

I love my nec's. I had a 19inch monitor, close to the one your wanting to get, from them about a year ago that I loved. Right now im using 2 of there 19inch flat panels, also very good. I would recommend nec.
