View Full Version : I`m alive...Victor`s monster -- WORKLOG --

Hello

A lot of things happend to me in last couple of weeks, one of them is domaged computer and no power to buy new hdd (all files has gone...).

I wanna show Victor`s monster. We are aiming for -100*C loaded with 300W on CPU head and about -60*C on GPU-SLI heads with 200W load. To reach that goal I`m using three 17000btu rotary monsters. Cascading stage for CPU will be filled with R404a on ST1 and R1150 on ST2. Plate HX, few SLHX, captubes. GPU-SLI stage will be autocascading R290/CO2, or, I hope so, R290/R23. Compressor is strong, I have new design of my autocascades, so everything should be okay.

Few photos of work, ST1 is done, Autocascading GPU-SLI stage is done. Now I have to finish only ST2 and everything should work without any problem

"Sorry for that mess in my workspace, but I`m moving to another place, a bit larger and with more needed tools"

Today I won`t work, because need some more copper but today "copper store" is closed, so I`ve got brake from that unit. ST1 and Autocascading GPU-SLI stage is leak free and I`m very happy.

Must go back to work, need finish some work that is waiting for too long time. But now I feel the power, to live. I`m glad to feel that guys...

Glad to see you back building Luke!

How many miles of copper tube have you used in that unit :eek2:!

LukeXE
06-09-2007, 03:55 AM
Haha, a lot of copper !! But this is only 2/3 unit done, there will be a lot more copper ! :D

looks good as always!

how about powering those compressors? using 3-phase socket?

Very powerful.

@.@ much more better this time, glad to see u revived :D
yes, isulation seems a really hard job right now.
and plz check every tiny things with 120% patiency, make sure no leak at all.
or I dont think there is one can repair the monster in China :(

I think shipping from Poland to China will be very dangerous. I hope the unit arrives in one, working piece.Good luck.

Love it :D

Will you build a wooden box around the unit when shipped Luke. I remember seeing done once before.

Keep it up dude and good to see you posting again :D

LukeXE
06-09-2007, 08:50 AM
Thanks guys :) Unit will be sweet with insulation and some nice numbers on evap (under zero of course :D)

I`ll build wooden case, just for shipping, that`s sure. Me + estetic = nothing, so I won`t build case just for good looking. However, those 3 compressors will feel better without case I think.

Wow thats truly one monster you made there, I'm liking it a lot, will you be fitting this in a case or just going for the industrial look?

Great work mate cant wait to see it finished.

Brettbeck
06-09-2007, 10:01 AM
I would put it on a pallet to ship on :). That way it is only going to be lifted by forklift trucks.

Better go and measure the width of the front door, already looks to big to fit out . ;)

honestly I don't think any company would accept a package on 80kg+ that's not on pallet. to heavy for one man.

Hey Victor, what about Shamino? Doesn't he live in Singapore?

06-09-2007, 02:28 PM
geez, that thing is a beast, how much time and money did you spend to make that, and more importantly, what's better, the pride of finishing it pretty much, or its performance?

Hey Luke, if you need to pull data off your old HD i got some HD's here and i can copy it all over for you.

Glad to see your back and have Victor as a customer.

Probs one of the first EU builders to hit China!

I hope your ontop of the world again. Just look at your units and then the misis.

Oh and nice to see some saftey device i think there

I think he's using a MAPP torch Kayl. You can see one behind the unit in a few of the pictures :).

LukeXE
06-10-2007, 03:17 AM
Thanks, thanks !

Yes, I`m using MAPP gas torch :p

Wdrzal, it will fit in to front doors, hehe :p I checked that earlier :D

Victor will be happy with that unit, I`m sure about that. Everything is done with the smallest details.

06-10-2007, 03:26 PM
yea wow, talk about a pain to leak test! Make sure hours are spent making sure that bad boy is 100% leak free.

n00b 0f l337
06-10-2007, 03:29 PM
Thats the major problem I think, but I think if you built a bit neater and more planned luke you'd have less problems with leaks. That and make sure when you get the joint hot enough, that when you add filler you go all the way around (more is better imo then too little ;)), and then move the heat over the pipes back and forth to let it soak thru.

For 4 days unit is holding that same pressure. I think that it`s leak free :-) Checked with special foam for leaks, nothing found.

Today I`ll buy some more copper and valve for oil return and everything should be done in next few days.

No temperatures yet, I decided to show nice number when the unit will be fully insulated. Now without ANY insulation Fluke has showed me -75,5C on GPU head at 0bar suction. Need to cut some captube from GPU heads.

:) Hope everyone like it.

And I know what I`m doing, autocascades aren`t easy to tune but for sure I know what I`m doing.

yes, this is true low temp ice formation, below -60 frost doesnt build so much... the lower it get the less frost and more smoke it produces hehehe

nice build, but you guys are exagerating on the compressor hp hehehe

Must go to school today guys , see you soon.

how to ship it to Shanghai safely, to Victor's home, that's the question:cool:

n00b 0f l337
06-12-2007, 05:37 AM
Freight it, only real way to assure its safe. Put it onto a pallet, bolt it down, and then ship it slow-mo with heavy on the insurance and labels for all the dangerous-ness-es.

I found at -81°c there is lots of vapor coming off the evaporator... but once it's been left it frosts up and there isn't any vapor anymore lol  .

If you blow the frost off it keeps pouring vapour everywhere again lol :D.

But there is no need to be agressive at all on here. Like Kayl said, if he has personal issues with Luke then that should be dealt with via pm, not in one of Luke's threads slagging off his work. I'm sure it isn't the first time i've seen it.

Sorry for not being online, really can`t arrange this stupid HDD :|

I`ve got new car, at least, so I can ship 3 waiting packages, then wait till Martha will be back from her few days trip, she has got digicam.

And this monster will work in next couple of days.

EDIT

I know that I have problems with delays, but I`m working on it. From about 20 July it will be only better.
