View Full Version : Do you really need a rad box to mount a 2 fan rad to the back of your case?

Or can you just hard mount it with some rubber spacers? Trying to look to save some money. (I know, only 20 bucks, but I need to save every cent possible.... i'm having some job problems arise :( , but before this happened I told a person here on the forum that I'd buy their old w/c stuff).

If so, anybody with pics?

Or use 1-2 old fan frames.

Some bolts or threaded studding with washers and nuts

This seems the most feasable, as I unfortunatly don't have the means to fabricate brackets.
So, just put a nut on the inside of the case, push a bolt through, put a nut on the very outside of the case (and tighten), and then mount that to the rad?

Get 4 bolts about 2-3 inches long, 7/32 in size iirc (not 100% sure), some nuts and lock washers and mount it that way. put some rubber between the bolts and the nuts to reduce vibrations and call it good. $5> and looks way better than a radbox.

Wait, would that support the partial weight of a small cat? No, seriously. My cat likes to lounge on-top of my case, looking out of the window. I'm pretty sure that he would put his 2 front feet on it, and stand there.

Two guides to using bolt and strap standoffs for you, my friend
Here (http://www.radiical.com.au/guides/RadiatorFitting.asp) and Here (http://www.radiical.com.au/guides/RadiicalFittingTwo.asp).

Eurh, furballs in your rad fins.
