Hi guys...

I've got the system below in my signature: a P5N32E-SLI running the 0903 BIOS with a D945 oc'ed to 3.9 GHz very stable on air. I run XPSP2 for games, Office 2007, and general home use. I've also got 2GB of DDR2 PC-6400 RAM.

Now that prices have dropped on C2D I'm considering getting an E6600 for this setup.

Can I just reset BIOS to defaults, pop out the D945, install the E6600, reboot, and then start re-tweaking for better clock ? Will I have to re-install XPSP2 ?

Reset bios, pop it in let it burn in for a while and then overclock it :) 3 - 3.2Ghz is easy, 3.6 and more depending on batch

Thanks Leeghoofd. That's what I was hoping to hear!

You say 3-3.2 GHz is easy. Is it easy on air with a Arctic Freezer Pro 7 ?

yep mate it's doable , or aim first for 3ghz ( so XS6800 speeds) with FSB 1333and ram at 800Mhz, I try to stay below 60°C ( just ot be on the safe side )when under orthos load (measured by Coretemp), think it will hit ( depending Vcore voltage you have to give around 50-55°C) let her burn in and then try to see if eg 8 x 400 works later on when all has setled...

I Stay at 3ghz 24/7 and when I want to do some benching and co I go up to 3.8 (with watercooling that is) Just make sure ya case is well ventilated too

You said "...with FSB 1333..."

Isn't the E6600 and/or the P5N32E-SLI limited to 1066 MHz FSB ?

Never mind... according to the ASUS site, the more recent BIOS loads can drive 1333 FSB. So I loaded BIOS 1103 last night in anticipation of my new E6850.
