Hello, I am having a really weird problem with my iTunes software. I keep getting this error when my iPod is attached to my laptop and I open iTunes. It reads The Software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the iPods software. Well, ok sure I will just go into my control panel and uninstall, right, WRONG! When I click remove, it says fatal error during installation. I don't know what to do. I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum, however seeing as it deals with Apple, I figured it appropriate. Thanks in advance.

So it is a windowz laptop I take it? And are you hooking up firewire or usb 1.1/2? What ver. of iTunes also.

It is a USB 2.0 connection with the 7.2 version of iTunes.


We reinstalled XP Pro and everything is working fine now. We would still like to know what caused this problem because we could not find help on the Apple support website.
