If MX-1 is non capacitive & non conductive, would that allow one to cover ANYTHING with it? (ie 2 electrical points that would usually kill an item if there were electrical conduction)

technically yes

technically.. hehehe... *sigh* i think i better find some crappy old hardware to experiment :D

use an ohmmeter to find out for certain. Odds are though it should be non-conductive

good point - will do, will do.. if it is (as AC says) then i'll experiment...

Its got no metal or conductive stuff in it, so its resistance should be super high, just like ceramique or something. Its just oils plus some other bits of stuff. If you pour oil onto the PCB, it won't short circuit would it?

I think there might still be a risk.
I remember reading something about how pure water doesn't conduct electricity, it's all the stuff dissolved in it.
Maybe the same principal would apply here if both surfaces are super clean?

I can only talk about my own real life experience...

I used MX-1 on the VRegs in my Commando, and I'm sure at least in two of them it spilled over the contacts, and it hasn't shorted yet, after a month or so.

However, once I start making changes (basically when the Stealth is available), I will make a cleaner mount. I don't like anything that is a dirt magnet spilled all over contacts. Better safe than sorry. I did a fair bit of modding in my case, and although I cleaned it thoroughly, there's always that rogue metal chip lurking in a corner joint waiting to make your day.
