Well, this is my first post. I dunno how many of you here use PBN, but thats a place that i frequent a good bit. I can hardly ever get good enough advice and alot of people slam me with rude comments and what not, but i heard of this forum and you guys seem calm and collected:) You could almost run this place with no mods:up:
Anyway, ive been wanting to build my own computer for a rather long time. Ive done some research for about a few months and came up with a, from my POV, a decent list. One thing you'll notice is how expensive the rig is going to be. Thats because i have no budget:) Working your ass off does some good!

Anyway, heres the list:

Click here. (http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=5648506)

Plans:
Photoshop
GAMING!
LAN Parties
Dual Monitors
SLI

Watercooling (For the future, still doing research)

And a :banana::banana::banana: load of case modding. So far i know i want to cut out a side panel (plexi) and put 4 120mm fans on the panel. Also, ill probably put 3 120mm fans across the top of the case.

So please feel free to suggest and critque ANYTHING!

Thanks!!

dump the silverstone fans and get some yates. $16/ea? vs. $3-5/ea for the yates.

Keep in mind that if the quality matches the price, i dont mind paying the higher price.

Edit: No yates fans on the egg.

Is this your first build? If so, i would suggest paring that list down a lot. Or at least get it going with the bare essentials and then expand from there. The crucial thing in any quality build is to take your time. Especially early on, test at every step. Test the mobo before it goes into the case. and after. Don't forget to use standoffs.
I could go on for days like this, but I'll spare you the lecture. I was a tech in a very busy pc repair shop, so i've seen quite a bit. Many kids forgetting to use standoffs.
Also the fans i was referring to are the Yate Loon brand. I know jabtech has them for under 5 bucks. At the price you're paying for the Silverstones, you could buy ~12 Yates! Yate Loon is a good quality fan.

Are Yates fans of good quality though? And i dont really want to par it done a good bit since this is going to be use for GAMING alot and i dont want to waste the money for upgrading. Since you are a tech, or were, what is your opinion of running SLI? Also, do you know of a bad ass motherboard? Ive heard of some problems with the one i have chosen.

Edit: Im also looking at CFM. The Yates the i found are only pushing 88 while the Silverstones are pushing ~110.

Could you list the primary parts (CPU,Mobo,GPU,Memory,PSU,Case)...newegg wish list is just plain annoying to cipher through.

i would suggets the Corsair 620watt instead of the GX

also why are u getting the E6700 which is expensive when u can get the E660 for 96$ less since u will overclock it ?

beside forget about the overclcoked version of the gpu

also when r u planning to buy those items ?

Defiantly get the Corsair HX620, I just ordered mine from ClubIT, it was $150 after shipping and it has a $20 MIR!

Agreed with SaFrOuT, when are you building and why the E6700? If you are building in the next two weeks, then power to you. If though you don't foresee building until late June or July then wait, in July you can get the Q6600 for about $250. Plus by then we should see some solid Penryn numbers and hopefully (fingers crossed) some Barcelona numbers. I am going OCed E4300 now and Q6600 in July, I am sick and damn tired of waiting for AMD!

Nice choice on the case

The PC-201B is a good base for a mod :D

If you are not planning on finishing your build until late summer then maybe you should hold off on the CPU/MoBo until the last moment. From looking over at Anandtech the Penryn's are going to be nice CPU's and they should be released by 3Q this year. There has been no talk by Nvidia as to whether or not the 680i will support the new front-side bus and by July there should be more selection in regards to Intels new flagship chipset. Its too late, IMHO, to start a new build centered around the old C2D unless you have the money to do a second build a few months later.

your summer is our winter; we are just going into winter here in aus.

It would be good if you could get a Penryn cpu i think...but that would hold up your build.

no reason to get an e6700; e6600 will clock as well or better.

if you are going sli i would recommend what i have (:D) in terms of graphics cards...

or if not sli get a p5k deluxe board that will perfectly match a penryn later on. and has a very high fsb overclocking ability....you may be better off getting one powerful well priced graphics card like an 8800gtx or x2900xt depending on your budget.

the rev A1 EVGA is excellent for high fsb...pick of the sli motherboards with a well advanced bios.

crucial ballistix 8500 seem to be much recommended in this forum i have noticed.

corsair 620 exhibits very low voltage ripple under high loading...ie. very stable good psu. it also has 5 year warranty.

anyway; i'm sure plenty of other people will give you their opinions.

Thanks for that link:)

Im going to be doing a fair ammount of case modding cause i have the tools and resources and i want my case to be different from anyone else:)

Looks like ill be waiting for a good bit. But hey, im not compaining. The more i wait, the more money i have to put into my rig. After this one, ill probably put together a cheap ass one to just mess around with.

As for water cooling, can anyone suggest a good system? I want to keep my machine as cool as possible. The only thing im afraid of is it leaking and ruining my rig completely.

Only fools buy pre-built watercooling systems. (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=119699)

Also, I, and surely others, agree on the E6700 being a pretty moot choice right now. If you have to buy it ASAP, then by all means buy an E6600 and overclock it, but if not, wait out for the Penryn's to be released. Even if you don't want one of them, C2D's will see a nice price drop.

Ok heres what i have to say abot this... I like your choice in GFX Card.. But its sold out on Newegg (so it says.)
$300 on a case seems like alot, im sure you could find a better one for less money? I like the MOBO (Thats the one im getting) Also, i considered the PSU your getting aswell and just ended up getting a more powerfull (and silent) PSU.. it might be 90W less, but its better overall in the two most important areas of PSUs. Seriously, I would reccoment the E6600 over the E6700 because you can always clock the E6600 to the same speed as the E6700 in the end. Anyways it looks like your not holding out for price so.. Do what you feel is best, im just trying to save you a dollar or two ;)
