www.excaliberpc.com has some nice sales if you buy it with something else on the discount list.

i don't understand how to get the mmm discount.

just put the items in your shopping cart, then when you check out it removes the amount from your order.

i don't know which items would give me a discount though. I don't see a list anywehere.

Wow, they changed that since I bought mine. They used to have a bunch of deal for the slk-900. Now, I geuss they gave it that global discount instead. I'm not sure what that means though.

They really changed that item around a lot.

how much did you pay?

sandman
06-16-2003, 04:13 PM
I payed $47, but then I bought mine with some fans and my 1700+. I saved like $20.00 in discount total.

How it is isn't a bad deal at all for one.

I kinda wish I'd have jsut got an slk-800U now though. it's only $33......

I want the 900 so i can use 92mm fans. more cfm lower dba. It is so expensive though, you could get an mcw50 for less new. with a fan on the 900 you could get an mcw50-t new. rediculous. :bananal:

sandman

yea.......static pressure matters more than cfm though, especially with high rsistance heatsink like the ones thermalright makes.

I wonder how well those tmd fans would do. I think i might just get an 800 with a tmd, i can compare that to a tornado at various speeds and noise levels.

sandman

the TMd fans are really kind of a joke IMO. They don't have a center hub, but about 10% of the air comes from around the middle. The outer edges of the fan spin faster, so it moves more air around the edges. They are supposed to be quiet fans.

Aren't they only like 74.5mm though? I'd go for a TT smart fan 2.

I can't stand the noise...i guess i could get the tt2 it seems pretty quiet for dba. I am making a water cooled comp just so i can have a nice oc and quiet. well actually that may have been like my 5th or 6th motive, but it did effect my decision to wc...well maybe not. :bananal:

people if iwant to mount a delta fan on my comp and i want to have the comp standing, is it possible to do and have my HSF on full contact to where it supposed to be.

i worried that it might loose the contact between the tow points and not have a such a gewd effect even witha delta fan(since they are so heavy)

lol that is funny. I have seen an sk-6 with a tornado on it mounted on a gpu without problems. There is no way the fan would affect the stability of the hsf. If the heatsink is copper it would way 10x as much as a delta, and if it is aluminum it would way 4x as much. What heatsink are you using anyway? I put an ax-7 with a tornado on my amd, and it is fine. the ax7 ways like 10000 pounds too. LoL funny question. :D

I ordered my slk900(u), and the next day i got that promo. I was about to get realy pissed off, but then i saw the next e-mail on my list from svc.com...

"the thermaltake smart fan II is out of stock" I had been saved, the fan was out of stock, so I got the coupon applied, and switched the smart fan to an sk6+ for my 9500-9700 in my backup rig. I bought the ttsf2 from buyxg.com for $10 shipped. This will go nicely on my nf7-s rev2 with vdd and vdim mods, and 3200 512mb dual channel geil golden dragon :D.

That deal at casemod.com was originally $26 for the slk 900(u). I was about to buy another, but they quickly changed the price. $36 is still the best price i have seen, about what i payed for it.

Oh, then nevermind.

Thats like all those sketchy hot deals forum listings.

The orders get cancelled, after wasting time and getting pumped up over the 'bargain'.

gouda96

alot of times that companies make mistakes they will still honor the sale. Dell honored their 15%+15% off deal, if your order was cancelled all you had to do was call them and they would put it through for you. Some compusa stores will give you that tdk dual format dvd burner for $140, and even cc and bb will sometimes pricematch them, infact i am going to go try to get one of those burners at bb and cc tomorrow i think. $120 for a dvd burner is too good to pass up.

>>$120 for a dvd burner is too good to pass up.<<

Now you're talking!

At $100 to $120 for a good DVD burner...its getting interesting.

I would love to make backups of my DVD's and lock up the originals. I hate when someone scratches one or 'borrows' it:wierd:

I think i found out about it at slickdeals.com. I will try to find it again. I saved the original ad, a reciet or the burner, and I saved the model number from the sku# from compusa.com, but it is all at a friend's house. If i come across that thread again i will link it.

So, what's the best deal on SLK-900u's this week?

I didn't see any over at case-mod.com

alot of them have poped up in forsale sections in different forums, including this one for about $35. I think svc has lowered their price, not sure though.
