Me too! that's what made me think of it. I saw it sitting in a pile of "crap cd's" and remembered the hunting part. When you're a little kid, that game is sooooo kewl...

lol, ya i hate those AOL CD's... i remember way back when they mailed AOL on 1.44MB disks, at least those you can reuse. I still have quite a few reformatted AOL disks lying around that i reused!

Man this is hard, but i think HL is the best game ever. its a killer single player and the mods are FANTASTIC. it has the best overall.

max payne however has the best single player

Well I voted for Half-life, after all it is one of the most purchased games ever... falling behind Myst (GAG!) and The Sims (PUKE!). But HL, for its lasting quality. I mean it was out in 97 and 5 years later it's still probably the most played engine (with all the mods out for it). Another point is CS. If you can't tell I like CS (The sig :P). I tried playing other games but everytime I keep falling back to CS. Even with all the retail noobies, and cheaters, lame mods, and freaky " I was behind the wall but the TMP still killed me " moments I've still come back to CS.

Max Payne however is not a FPS. It's third person. (Except for the sniping of course).

My vote would have to go towards the original first person shooter "Doom" and it's sequels. But since it's not in the list, I voted for Q3. Never really cared too much for Unreal

Can't say what's best as I haven't played them all, but I'm about half way thru "Return to Castle Wolfenstien" and it's a blast....from the past.

I like MOHAA a lot too. It's the first 1st person shooter that I have played from beginning to end, non stop, in a looong time. A truly great single player game!

MOHAA multiplayer is a little lame though. I'm not into the pure melee MOHAA multiplayer offers...I like teamwork and strategy too (that's the reason for my RTCW mutliplayer addiction).

PS Does anyone remember "Drakan"? Not the best but I really thought riding the dragon was cool. I remember applying the Nude skin and my wife walked by and said "No wonder you like that game so much, you PERV! LOL

mohaa is definately better than all the ones here above...
remember the sniper part in the tower with the tank below you guarding the bridge... first time you hear germans climbing those stairs behind you, you go nuts... that game has it all...

And storming the beach at normady, that part OWNS! So realistic! And the blood patch for MOH:AA makes it all the better.

Screw it! I voted for HL because I'm so addicted to Counter-Strike (and have been for years) that its starting to get ridiculous. I have an onslaught of games in my collection, Including MOH:AA and UT2k3, but I keep going back to CS. Hell I've almost had a divorce over CS there's not many that can say that!!

Never really cared for CS, I dig MOHAA though, only problem is, whenever I play I get accused of cheating. I didn't think there were any cheats for this game.

I loves me some Battlefield and DoD. (WWII is my area of focus for my history degree.):D

Q3 is very special to me, but i can't stay alive for more than 3 seconds.
UT2k3, on the other hand...
I first played it, and i thought it sucked.
for some reason, i kept playing it, and after a couple of weeks, i was winning 9 out of 10 online games i played.
i found that UT2k3, unlike Q3, relies on strategy and tactic much more than it does on pointless practice.
which is why i got good at it so fast. or at least thats what i like to think :D
while ago, i voted Q3 in this poll,
but now i'm going to have to say UT2k3 :D

I voted UT ... it was my first online game . Still go back and play it from time to time . But my heart belongs to SOF2/Tribes/&Tribes2 .
Ive spent god knows how many hrs playing Tribes , and Tribes2 was fun , but nowhere near the addicting stage for me. Now my current fix is SOF2 ... I think Ive became more addicted to it than any other that Ive played. I play on the Quake$$$$ servers alot. If you play SOF2 and on the QS, give a holla! .
