anyone else noticed SuperPI doesn't like Vista and vice versa

i can't bench superpi for some reason

1M sometimes finishes and sometimes it doesn't

32M never starts

I'll just add what I posted on ocau.

Superpi worked fine on Windows Longhorn Server Beta 3 64-bit, with both 32M and 1M. Was actually only 0.3s behind XP in the 1M runs.

I've ran into that issue as well, somehow, it only appears when selecting one core and realtime, to my experience at least...

errr i figured out how to run SuperPI on Vista

when you start the app and select the test you like take the prompt to the upper right corner of the desktop screen and start from there >>>>ROFL<<<< and it works LOL

LOL i know it sucks hahah

yeah i wasn't shooting for good time and had all the windows open

did you know that vista has around 50+ services loaded :shakes:
is that REALLY necessary lol

i will do some benching on XP soon for 4GHz again and will try my 600MHz 4-4-4-x sticks to see if we can get some sub 12m times :) on XP and who knows on vista :(

in case you were wondering what the differences are

i would say for SuperPI Vista is not THAT much slower actually

take this into consideration >>>> XP has Largesys cache tweak and uses the silver theme so it's pretty decent speedwise

Vista is stock 32-bit ultimate with themes and all galore (did not apply largesys cache tweak yet either :D)

difference was only 16-18s >> so with some more OS tweaking and disabling unneeded services we should be on par with XP :D

turned on largesys cache

have to figure out how to apply real time to the SPI windows...only high priority atm....i know i can gain a few seconds there too

Here's my PI's from Super Pi/mod1.5 XS on:
Vista Ultimate 64
E2140 @340x8=2.72GHz
GA G31MX-S2
400W Eazy Cool PSU
2048Mb TwinMOS XMS 6400 5-5-5-18 @ 907MHz
It took a little fidling with Vcore and Vddr to get 4M & 8M to run, 16M & 32M crash out is this Vista intolerance or instability?

i was just testing a HP laptop to make sure RAM is ok and while running a single thread of 32M SuperPi under Vista Home premium i noticed the CPU was loading to 100% which is odd for a dual core CPU

have a look at this guys
there is a service running called TrustedInstalled.exe which is using ~30% of CPU resources on average on this machine.

i went to Run>services.msc and tried to disable services which i thought might be related such as Windows Modules Installer and another similar service but this bastard still kept running

can you guys check your Vista OEM copies to see whether this service is running as well

SLOOOOW SPI >> don't laugh this was on some AMD CPU hahaha :D

this system behaves really weird with RAM ...... what are those 100 hard faults mentioned in resource manager :s EEK
